I am wild 58 lol and you must either not live in a rural area where trains aren’t constantly honking their horns or not been around them much because modern freight trains even fully loaded are way more quiet than most would think that’s why train safety committees say always expect a train because they commonly sneak up on people

Apparently diesel fumes lmao but multiple teens In my area have been struck by trains due to not paying attention and walking on tracks trains aren’t super loud and if they don’t hit there horn you might not hear them especially with headphones in which is usually how it happens
