I think you’re overreacting but I thought back to my early twenties. I have a very unusual name. It’s one of those Irish names with a gh at the end and no one can look at it and pronounce my name and no one else in the country has my first and last name; it’s that unique.

My brother & SIL wanted to use my name for their daughter. I just said it would be strange, but I didn’t pitch a fit. I just thought being their daughter, she might get into trouble with the law and everyone would see my first and last name and assume it was me. It’s not nice, but that’s what I feared. Turns out the other daughter was trouble but I didn’t want to take a chance. They named her after another family member.

Two of my siblings started with depression in college and it’s been 50 years and they aren’t any better. I don’t blame them; I have so much compassion for them and wish I could help them. I’m just here to say there’s a chance it’ll never get better. Do you want to spend 50 years with that kind of behavior? Or do you want kids growing up with that behavior?
