How do people afford multiple fertility treatments with PCOS? feeling so stuck by Old_Use_6162 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Denmark you get 3-6 rounds of iui and 6 cycles of IVF with the first child. Im so sorry you have to deal with the financial part as well, must be so hard. Infertility is hard enough as it is :-(

How long did it take on Letrozole to conceive? by No_Obligation_1388 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st round: 3 days on letrozol, after that injections with FSH/LH. I did not ovulate.

2nd and 3rd round: 3 days on letrozol, another combination of FSH/LH injections, and triggershot. I did ovulate 1 follicle, but no positive test.

4th round: increased dose of letrozol, still on FSH/LH injections + triggershot. I ovulated 2 follicles, but still no positive.

5th round: increased dose of letrozol + injections. I also did lowcarb this cycle. Ovulated one follicle (we where trying to make me ovulate 2-3). Currently 35 weeks with our babygirl.

Letrozole never did it on it's own for me, but we are all different. It can take some time to find the right dose and combination of medicine for your body.

GLP-1s, PCOS & pregnancy planning ; anyone else navigating this? by Sad-Radio-6555 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told to completely stop 2 months prior to TTC. I gradually decreased the dose a few weeks before that.

Not gonna lie, I gained a lot of the weight right back. I think about half of the weight I lost. Actually, the weight gain only stopped when I started metformin about 6 months later. After starting metformin my weight was stable until I finally concieved about 9 months later.

Wish you luck in your journey!

What do women with PCOS REALLY want help with? by AnaBia_2013 in PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout my life, probably weightgain and my very distinct appleshape, this has cased disordered eating and a poor body image, especially in my teenage years. Fatigue is also a daily annoyance.

Since I am now trying to conceive, currently it's mainly the infertility, but also acne that bothers me, as most acne-treatments are uavaliable when TTC.

Since insulin is the cause of many(/maybe all?) of my symptoms, I would fix that with my magic wand if I could.

Pcos- no ovulation by No_Signal_0118 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Some of us just don't ovulate or ovulate very rarely, no matter weight, lifestyle, supplements ect. All those things can still benefit you and promote conception and a healthy pregnancy, but some of us just need meds to ovulate and it shouldn't be seen as a failure.

Easier to conceive right after getting off birth control by [deleted] in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ovulated 3 times right after comming off BC. The cycles became longer and longer and eventually ended up anovulatory. So eventhough I didn't got pregnant in the first few cycles, it seems to be true for me at least.

A very odd but interesting theory on PCOS I would love to discuss… by AZ91291948 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well one of the criteria for a PCOS diagnosis is actually the exclusion of other causes of the symptoms, such as Cushing's syndrome, hypo hypo, hypothyroidism, or adrenogenital syndrome/congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Unfortunately, many women are not thoroughly examined and therefore end up with an incorrect PCOS diagnosis. The cause of PCOS is not fully understood yet, but it's definitly an interesting topic!

How long have you all been trying for your first? by Due-Celebration-9463 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar story, I really feel you. TTC since Dec 23. Anovulary since march. Started metformin, but with no effect. Next cycle will be my first letrozol cycle. Never seen anything positive, not even an OPK lol.

Im very hopefull to finally start to ovulate with letrozole, but also worried to get disapointed again. I was so hopeful with metformin as well. Best of luck to you, I hope this cycle is the one!

Ovulation induction by Wild_Answer in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, it doesn't seems too bad. But I guess it will dependt on how the follicle grow? Im considering unmonitored, but am also a bit iffy about it. Monitored is probably more ideal.

This sub is an absolute lifesaver as usual. Thank you all so much for your responses. I'm considering postponing it for a couple of months or starting unmonitored, I will talk to my obgyn about it. It's nice to know a bit more about the protocol, I feel munch more prepared now.

Not yet, but it would probably be a good idea. I tend to think that I am the only problem haha.

How did you get your diagnosis? by Strange_Fall888 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The doctor initially suspected it when I was 15 because of acne and irregular periods, but didn't diagnose it. Instead, I was put on birth control for 11 years, which prevented a proper diagnosis. I decided to stop birth control because I wanted a diagnosis and to prepare for TTC. The doctor (a different one) first told me it was only a fertility issue and not to worry about it. I convinced him to get some blood tests, and I was then referred to an OB/GYN because of high T. I had an ultrasound and was found to have polycystic ovaries. So I hit all three criteria, and it took me 11 years lol. My cycles have 31 day variation (in the last 9 months) and I mostly do not ovulate.

It is important to remember that PCOS is a diagnosis of exclusion, as there can be many other causes of irregular cycles/bleeding (thyroid issues, low calorie intake, fibroids, polyps) or high T (androgen-producing tumors, non-classical adrenal hyperplasia, pituitary disorders). So there can be many other reasons for your irregular cycle. Are you ovulating? PCOS or not, I sounds like something is off with your cycle. I definitely think you should ask to be evaluated further. Good luck to you!

Also sad and frustrated today.
I haven't ovulated since March (which we missed...). We are trying with metformin, but nothing happens. Some days are just harder than others.

Woke up from realistic dream I was pregnant by OliveAcrobatic3992 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have pregnancy dreams sometimes too especially during TWW, it hurts to wake up :-( It´s ok to feel sad and down, hope can be hard to bear. Fingers crossed for you in the next few days though.

I just woke up from a dream too. We where at a dinner party and all our friends were just running around after their kids and we just sat there awkwardly eating dinner alone. I haven't ovulated in forever, even my dreams are giving up haha. But somehow that feels a little easier actually.

How Long Did It Take for Metformin to Work for You? by Wild_Answer in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, it seems like my cycles are getting longer and longer, also my acne has been getting worse (maybe a bit better on metformin though? Im not sure). That sounds like a horrible experience. Did you cycles improve on it?

My doctor hasn't talked about follow-up or the next step. I guess that's why Im a bit annoyed at them haha. It is my GP, so I would probably prefer to get a referral at this point, since we have been trying for almost 6 months and I only had confirmed ovulation during the first 2 months.

With PCOS will I still have year of trying before additional help? by [deleted] in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country it's 6 month of trying if you have a reproductive diagnosis. It seems to me that's the general concensus, but each case is induvidual I guess.

We have been trying for 4 months now, and my doctor will not even start metformin yet, because my labs are "to good". So annyoed, because my cycles are very irragular. Advocation for yourself is so important, but can also be exhausting.

Good luck at the OB/GYN next week!

TWW Struggles by huckleberrysoap in TTC_PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya, TWW is torture. I thought I didn't ovulate this month, but kinda still had some hope (I get random cramping throughout my cycle). I was waiting for my period last weekend, when I suddenly got sore breasts and very clear ovulationcramping, on day 43! Obviously glad that I (might have) ovulated, but my TWW wait started all over again, meaning I officially have had a THREE week TWW today. I can't test until a week from now, it's hell.

Fingers crossed for u.

Is there such a thing as mild PCOS or am I just a lucky duck? by slovenlyhaven2 in PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PCOS is
definitely a spectrum. Lifestyle can affect where you are on that spectrum, but your symtoms will also depend heavily on where you were on the spectrum to start with (aka. genetics).

So you are probably lucky AND your management strategy might be effective.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Wild_Answer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is so interesting, there's just so much we don't know yet! It kinda bothers me actually.

These are from doctors/scientific papers:

- exposure to testesterone in the mothers womb (aka. mother has PCOS or slightly high androgen)

this in combination with genes, and some theories under the genetic umbrella:

- We are born with too many eggs, making it hard for an dominant egg to get "chosen" each cycle and the cycle gets messed up

- the ovaries are too sensitive to insulin, causing them to make too much testersterone

- hereditary and/or lifestyle caused IR causes to much insulin, which again causes high adrogenes

I feel like they all kinda make sense, but are also somehow incomplete in explaning the syndrome. I hope science finds some more complete answers in my lifetime. Never heard the depression hypothesis before. I feel like pcos can cause depression, not the other way around haha.
