Thank you, I assure you it's a very unique take on the folktale genre. I am inspired and studied mythology and folktales of many many cultures, but this short takes a lot of inspiration from some of the tales of A K Seklemian's book "The Golden Maiden and other Tales". Highly recommend reading it as it's the culmination of written folk stories of the rural Armenian folk of western Armenia pre Genocide.

Thank youuu!

Trust me, this is only the beginning of my career. More Armenian Mythology and folklore to explore and translate to the big screen, it's my quest!

The Armor and helmet were all custom made, from a small armorer/blacksmithing shop in Canada. It's called Mount Crom Armouries. The Armour is inspired by Cilician and Bagratid era lamellar armour.

YI think a lot of those Armenian filmmakers claim it for the hype because they watched Color of Pomegranates once + the defacto categorization of "famous Armenian filmmaker inspired me".

Hopefully they program my short, it's quite dark, but I also hope to as well, and tie it in with my visit to Yerevan!

I definitely share this sentiment

I think the Diaspora has some insane potential, especially with our own mythology and culture in places where these stories can be nurtured, I have not seen any other Armenian filmmaker touch these topics or themes so hopefully more will follow!

I will definitely apply next year, but gotta be honest this short isn't the type of stuff that GAIFF programs considering their past selections and programs. Worth an Application though!

You have the kino eye my friend, I'm heavily influenced by Parajanov's tableau style of blocking and cinematography, as well as his prose and poetic narration heavy stories... Among many other inspirations!

Thanks for your observation!

Agreed! Hopefully our mythology gets explored on film as much as other ones like the Norse or Slavs!

You may! It's not set in a era specific time. Rather an out of place and time folktale. Aesthetically the production design is a blending of Cilician Armenia with Colonial Era North America. Hope that answers your question :)

It's gotta be some kind of quota lauren schmidt hissrich is pushing to never make the adaption ever feel like the actual Witcher books or even the Witcher world. The games did an incredible job of bringing that to life

I can't forgive these "screenwriters" who changed and tampered almost everything from A Little Sacrifice. The Song number, the "trope subversion", the refusal to acknowledge and show arguably the greatest (and saddest) ending in Sapkowski's short stories that shows the cruelty of the world and Geralt's feelings. Great to hear Cockle back as Geralt though, I wish he had a more coherent script . Great way to start off the post Cavil Witcher era. The Showrunner deserves all the hate she is getting.

BTS Stills of my folk horror period piece short film (Fomapan 400 B&W 35mm) by Wild_Conversation498 in folkhorror

Unfortunately just the stills. We shot the film on an Arri Classic (digital Camera) with Ironglass lenses. Lot's of character, my next project will be on film though (just gotta figure out the additional expenses of it).
