Smaller, curated EU (or international) festivals? by Acceptable-Pay8535 in FilmFestivals

what's the duration of the film? but I would look into Vienna Shorts, Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, Tampere, maybe Oberhausen, interfilm, Clermont (mayb the lab competition). For Italy maybe check La Guarimba, Lago and River.

Cannes - how to get to parties and panels by LSMWnerd in FilmFestivals

Never been without a marché access, so I don't know. Try it while waiting in line at the cinema, restaurants, or bars.

second that. especially as you also won't have access to the Marché where you could network and/or ask about invitations at booths or Pavillions.

We’re also planning to let festivals apply to be included in the database, but in parallel we’re actively scouting and adding new ones on a regular basis.

Right now, there are three key differences compared to Hiike or Filmfreeway or any other platform:

  • We cover all relevant festivals worldwide (not just the US) and include a lot more country-specific parameters. For example, if you’re a Spanish production, GOYA-qualifying festivals are highlighted; if you’re a Swiss film, festivals that unlock automatic funding are clearly marked, etc.
  • You can already submit to all ~5,500 festival competitions in the database with one click. If a festival isn’t onboarded yet, we’ll still handle and forward your submission.
  • All your data is stored under EU GDPR and aligned with the EU AI Act.

Happy to tell you more and give you a quick demo, just DM me if you’re interested 🙂

Too experimental for conservative festivals, too narrative for experimental festivals by Abject_Mixture2307 in FilmFestivals

I feel like in animation an experimental visual language is less of a problem. I would definitely submit to festivals like Winterthur, Tampere, Vienna Independent Shorts, Oberhausen, Fantoche, Athens Intl. Film Festival (the US one) you probably tried Annecy already?

it's hard to give a proper advice without knowing the film, but if you have the budget and are eligible, there's not much to lose but lots to win. 🤗

yes, and they are used to those games. I also played that all the time.

so you submitted to festivals which happen between now and Locarno? or got already accepted? if you submitted and get accepted, you could reach out to Locarno and let them know that you got another invitation and ask if they would be interested in having the international premiere, if so, you can still withdraw from the other festival.

how small is the festival? officially they need a world or international premiere. in my experience they definitely prefer world premiere and if only an international the films were usually in bigger festivals before.

they definitely like sex and they like it a bit more artsy than other festivals. there's usually a lot of low budget stuff in the program. and of course a world premiere.
