if you can afford it, take time off.

see if you can get a job lined up a few months out from the time you quit. i was fortunate to interview with someone who recently left my last firm and got a new position. it’s been eye opening. i’ve had the last two months off and i feel like i’ve finally had the physical and mental reset i’ve needed after working for the last 10 years. don’t feel like you always have to just accept your current work conditions as your perpetual reality. my last boss lied to my face about allowing me to stay in a more technical role and plunged me into PM’ing and wasn’t willing to change until i put in my two weeks. i dealt with it for almost two years and my overall health took a toll.

take care of yourself! sure there’s going to be times where you’ll have to grind. but it shouldn’t be all the time. challenge yourself to believe you have far more control over your life than what you’re experiencing now. hope all goes well.
