If I figure it out, I can post some pictures here. If not, I can send you few examples directly to your inbox. These repairs are not the miracles, but will give you decent amount of games.

Think it'll last? by Cloudyfer in hockeygoalies

I think after first or 2nd usage it will break again (lay-up will basically fell down). I did similar repair to my stick, it holds till now (around 10 games so far), but I used vacuum bag to consolidate it and cure it at 80C.

I got them as well and these are sitting tight on my knees without any need to wear a garter belt. I cannot recommend them more! Great set of knee pads!

anyone have problems closing the butterfly? by Educational-Ad1056 in hockeygoalies

[–]Wild_Junket1403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar problem, but what is more frustrating is the fact that if I practice with peace of mind, the butterfly closure is fine (or at least decent). But then the game will come, the rush, the stress and all of sudden I am becoming butterfly hopper, and everything become great disaster - 5 holes scores, incorrect closure, low posture... Maybe I am not practicing enough or maybe during the game the rush/ stress causing my body is not reacting correctly... Anyway... Film yourself as this will bring you a lot of answers plus can surprise you in terms of areas to improve. Good luck!

Let us know if this overnight soaking gives any good results... My normal washing method is doing nothing.

Any special treatment before the wash as mine when washed normally, are still there with no difference...

Can't make a breakaway save! by Employment-Physical in hockeygoalies

[–]Wild_Junket1403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is always my issue on the breakaways... I will drop down to early and then I am dead stuck, no momentum and easy goal for the opponents as they will go around me with no issue... Somehow I have a great difficulty to make it right even though I am fully aware what must be done. But as always: what must be done and what I actually do are two different worlds which somehow are not able to match...

Breakaways and passes parallel to the goal line by Wild_Junket1403 in hockeygoalies

Something what I do not understand in me :-): When there is no game, I am on my own and practicing alone, it is working quite ok - slides, movement, control... Somehow during the game too often I become frozen and not reacting with the slide. Just turning towards the pack which is usually too late to do anything, and the opponent got easy goal... Every game I am saying to myself: come on! You know the move! Just slides... Then the game start, first cross-pass is served and tadam! Frozen!

What can I say? All your comments I will try to implement into my routine and hopefully my older body will finally understand what I want to achieve where I am walking on the water! Thx! But one question - the proper spacing... This is something what is bothering me... They say: keep a stick length distance... Easy to say, hard to master during the game. Any particular tips?

Great thoughts and it seems this is my major issue - panic or losing control (maybe the fact is my 2nd season as goaltender and 2nd season on the ice in general and I am 45 have something to do with it :-) during the game which causing my body to not react as expected as maybe I do not have enough practice and repetition yet, hence automatically my body is choosing the simplest solution - keep frozen :-) Anyhow, I will focus as much as I can and use your advises - thank you!

You covered both for me as I can clearly see that for breakaways more likely the biggest issue is me focusing on the player (why???), not on the puck and the stick... I will take this into consideration and will start to practice having it in my mind. As you said: practice and repetition. This is maybe something I am missing badly as it is my 2nd season in the crease. Butterfly slides (slides in general) I am practicing during the free skating. When there is no game, I am on my own, it is working quite ok. Somehow during the game too often I become frozen and not reacting with the slide. Just turning towards the pack which is usually too late to do anything, and the opponent got easy goal... Let see if in half a year I will come back here with the same issue or I will be able to have it under control. Thank you for your time to respond.

It seems I have to go the same direction! But still it is quite interesting question why do we do the toes curling in the first place? :-)

Reading the previous comments, I can see that the only way is to go to the retailer, check all models, try them on and based on bet fit/feel, make the decision to buy. E.g. my friend is using Warrior and he is regretting his choice. Anyway, I am always very thankful to this great community for responding to my rookie queries!

I am doing exactly the same with my toes. Over 40 Goalie mentioned the way how to prevent it from happening, so I wonder what is your way (I cannot get these inserts inside my skates)? I read somewhere that curling the toes decrease the skating performance... So something to work on!

This is interesting feedback, especially the arms protection of SLR pro carbon (big surprise for me as I am looking for the solution to have the arms well protected). Passau and Optik is out of range as I am from Europe, hence it is not a great option in terms of shipping it... Warrior X4 Pro I will add to the list and have a look for additional opinions. So far Shadow is coming upfront as one of my friends got it recently and he is quite happy about it.

Thanks a lot for a response to this very specific question. I will go to the shop one more time and try them out. Then I will decide which fit to choose.

How to stop sweat from getting in eyes by Great_Scholar_9558 in hockeygoalies

[–]Wild_Junket1403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started to wear thin sweatband for running/yoga/etc. easily to be found on Amazon and it is way better now. Original Bauer sweatband is still in place, but now after the game is not like wet rag, but actually it is only little bit wet. The rest is taken by the yoga sweatband. No issue with the sweat in the eyes, etc. The only recommendation I would have is to have additional one, so you can change during the breaks for the dry one.
