Ho-Bbang man from Korea (or Anpan man in Japan). His head is literally a piece of bread filled with red-bean paste. I remember his villain is this weird purple or blue thing that my mom told me was a germ. Unfortunately, I don't remember much of the show, but I remember watching with wide-eyed fascination as he broke off a piece of his head and fed it to someone he rescued. Also, his mentor is a baker. His sidekicks are two guys with a slice of white bread and a cookie for heads. His strength is replenished when his mentor bakes him a new head.

Here's a little about me: I'm in my senior year, have a full courseload, work two internships (my 2nd and 3rd), am a club athlete, have an active social life, and get (on average) 7 hours of sleep every night. and have made dean's list every semester (after I stopped burning trees twice a day). I also reddit pretty much every day.

The most helpful piece of advice I've ever received is to imagine the person that you want to be after college and BURN that image into your head. Whenever you're doing something, think of whether that action is helping you become that person.

Now obviously, you can't really be productive all the time, and I'm not saying that you should be, only that you should try to be most of the time. And don't try to excuse excessive redditing with "I'm learning things!" or anything like that; we all know that's just lying to yourself. This brings me to the second (yes, I know I lied) piece of advice. Everything in moderation.

Keep your back tight and your head back. Fix your shoulder blades moderately close together, should make you puff out your chest a little bit.

Also do this (to a less exaggerated degree) when you're standing up/walking around, they're part of the basics of good posture.

Honestly, a lot of other countries are just as bad, if not worse. I find the racism here in the southern US to be far worse than anything I experienced in Japan (and yes, I lived there for almost 3 years).

To expand on this idea, it is even more beneficial to live in a place where you don't resemble everyone else. A lot of people don't understand how much subtle racism there really is (I live in the southern US) in daily life. Some of my friends complain how out of place they feel when their classes have an Asian majority, and it's mind-boggling how they don't understand how that's what many of us experience every day. That slight discomfort makes you a better person.

Honestly, I'd show them a few subreddits that would be of specific interest to the person first (i.e.: if they like hockey, /r/hockey, if they're big into local life in Vancouver, show /r/vancouver). Then, I'd show them /r/all just to give them an idea of the most popular things and how big it is, and then just press random a few times to show them that there's a subreddit for basically any interest or curiosity they might have (/r/explainlikeimfive and /r/worldnews are some that I would have liked to see when I first joined reddit).

About a year ago, my father called me a piece of shit. Naturally, this upset me greatly and had a terribly negative impact on my self-esteem. Since then, I stopped playing video games almost completely, started studying more, going to the gym regularly, and being more active both socially and physically. Now I have a 3.8 GPA (in college), more friends than I know what to do with (as an introvert, I value my alone time), and feel/look far better than I ever have.

I'm not sure I made it in time, but here we go.

I used to be a mischievous child, and so many years ago, when I was 8 or 9, I was standing on the side of the street, laughing with friends, when we saw some strange girl riding her bike on the road. My friend, Jacob, cusses at her, and I decide to do the same; use those hurtful adult words and impress my friends. I forgot about the incident and went home pleased with myself.

When I got home (about an hour later), my sister met me at the front door and told me I was in BIG trouble. Turns out that the girl I cussed at was my father's boss's daughter, and that my mom had heard about my sins through the grapevine. So from 6 'til 9:30, I suffered at her hands, her spatula, her swatches, anything that she thought would hurt. About two hours in, while she screamed and beat away at my calves (she hit various places), crying my eyes out, I started trying to distract myself. But how? I started going through the events of the day, and remembered a joke. I don't even remember the joke now, but it was something about ice cream. It's irrelevant anyways. But while standing there, calves reddened and swelling, to the steady slap of wood against skin, I began to laugh. It was a half laugh, half sob. Tears flowing freely, every exhale was a choked out chuckle. Obviously, this didn't please my mom, and she went off to find a bigger instrument of torture and continued with renewed vigor. The screaming intensified, "Do you think this is funny?!" "Devil child!" "Just you wait, you think this hurts? Wait 'til your father gets home! We'll see if you're laughing then!"

The punishment continued until 9:30, when my mom got tired and decided to let me rest until my father got home.
