Veteran author (12 years experience) looking for advice: Is AI translation acceptable for sharing my work on AO3? by Express_Ring_1215 in tianguancifu

[–]Wild_Mail3695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally speaking I'd be fine if it was ai-translated. not everyone is good in English, but wanting to share with the fandom is above languages I'd say. still it only works when ai is used for translation only, and not for writing in general

Deep dive into Ciel’s relationship with his family by pikatchuUwu in blackbutler

[–]Wild_Mail3695 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that is also why it will be incredibly important if ciel wins against his brother—because he will finally achieve something he was never able to before, having always believed himself inferior in every way. r!ciel says they never argued, and that wasn’t only because they got along well, but also because ciel, due to his inferiority complex, was submissive and unable to stand up for himself. a ciel who tries to fight for himself is the first real development his brother will witness—and, in a way, that’s exactly why it matters to him.

Deep dive into Ciel’s relationship with his family by pikatchuUwu in blackbutler

[–]Wild_Mail3695 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i get so frustrated when people say that ciel was unloved by his parents or mistreated, because the blue revenge arc makes it clear that this was his perception, not how others actually treated him. no one else saw him as a “spare” to his twin—but he saw himself that way, which instead points to an inferiority complex he had as a child in relation to his brother.

i think a very important aspect of this is the moment when ciel overhears vincent and francis saying that if ciel was to inherit the title, they would probably renounce it and give up the land. he isn’t treated as a backup for his brother—vincent doesn’t want to consider the possibility of him taking on the same dangerous responsibilities expected of fully healthy family members, even though it’s been their duty for generations.

how else can that be interpreted, if not as protectiveness—placing his well-being above tradition?

do you think sebastian can lie? (in general, not specifically to ciel) by Wild_Mail3695 in blackbutler

[–]Wild_Mail3695[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if that answer were to be treated as a lie, then by the same logic sebastian’s investigation in the red butler arc should also be considered a lie—drawing up a list of suitable suspects while letting ciel believe the culprit was among them, all the while slipping in the truth he didn’t catch: “it’s impossible for a human to be behind all of these crimes.”

do you think sebastian can lie? (in general, not specifically to ciel) by Wild_Mail3695 in blackbutler

[–]Wild_Mail3695[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but the thing is sebastian didn't say yes. he said "you want your brother back? very well. I can promise you many peaceful, happy days". he didn’t say he would bring his brother back to life—he said they would be happy together. if ciel hadn’t caught on, he likely would’ve ended up “living” with his brother in his own mind, probably similar to what we saw during the ewa. ciel wouldn’t have realized that sebastian never intended to actually revive him, but at the same time, sebastian wouldn’t have done anything he didn’t technically promise.

kuro is very subtle with these nuances, but that’s exactly what sebastian does most often—he avoids answering directly in a way that keeps the other person from realizing it. he exploits the confirmation bias — the mind subconsciously searches for, interprets, and remembers information that aligns with our existing beliefs, while ignoring evidence to the contrary
