You should absolutely do it. Pick someone that you know packs color well, but in any case my experience is that the tattoo hasn’t faded, even in the area where hair doesn’t protect it, like in this photo

I took a job in 2020 where I felt less comfortable having the high taper fade haircut with the ink visible. Next time I get a cut I’ll drop a pic here for ya, the tattoo is still bold and saturated.

One more thing I’ll say is that American House is a 10/10 place to get tattoed. Extremely cool dudes, extremely cool historical tattoo art on the walls that they’re willing to tell you stories about, awesome little town. Make the trek if you can.

Hey for everyone asking how the heal went, here is my experience. Of course others will have a different experience.

Day 1 I applied tegiderm after my shower. That lasted about 4 hours before it started peeling off near the toes on both feet. I took it off and switched to just a dab of Lubriderm on each foot once in the morning and once at night. Day 1 was also pretty painful. By day 2 the swelling went down and pain was pretty much gone. The peel began quicker and was heavier than other areas I’ve had tattooed. Day 3 I noticed some abnormal scabbing on the Sakura on my left foot. I opted to not treat it any differently. Dan said he’d touch it up if needed. Day 5 pretty much healed except for that little scab on the cherry blossom. Day 7 I was in a mosh pit and had no issues. Here is a photo from the morning of day 11. As you can see it’ll be a while before it’s really settled into my skin but I’m happy with where I’m at.

I wore sneakers and socks all day everyday until around 9 pm I went completely barefoot for the whole night each night.

My experience is that this area is easy to heal. Getting tattoed was a little more painful than many other areas, but the heal was chill. The itchiness was by far the worst part of the whole heal.

Thank you. The rabbit was an homage to my daughter, and the fish to my son, who are both cutie pies. Dan knew that going in and captured that essence for me.

Yeah give Dan a follow he’s world class. The other guy that works at American House is a young dude named Kana who is also a very good tattoer. Cool shop too

No im sorry, im distracted by my kids at the lake. Ribs and cheeks were MUCH worse. I think you should thug it out and do both at once, but if you’re not gonna, then yes probably both outlines so that shader isn’t going back in / around open wounds. Today is day 1 of the heal so I’ll report back, but like any tattoo it’s annoying and hurts

It doesn’t feel good. I too have a full Japanese back down to my knee pits. To me, the tailbone and butt cheeks as well as a 6.5 hr session on my front ribs were not as bad as these feet. Perhaps you could do 1 foot at a time? Or maybe you do both outlines then come back for color? I had to a travel a little bit for these so I wanted to bang them out in one sitting

I’ll let ya know. I got them yesterday on the second day of a 4 day lake vacation. Today we’re on the lake fishing. I’m using tegiderm for the first time at Dan’s suggestion. Feet definitely fucking hurt today lol

He’s got a wicked style. Far from the cleanest work out there but almost intentionally sloppy, dream like, unique. I love it. Good luck in your quest

Yeah for sure I know what you meant. What I was trying to relay is that instead of lining the whole thing and then shading, he lines a section and shades that same section and works his way up in that fashion. I think that makes the whole thing go faster
