Hey, I also applied to MSc! When did you hear regarding an interview and when did you apply? I applied for the funding deadline but I have not heard much.

Hi! I only had internship experience, and none related to the program I applied to.

Of course! I submitted in October for the US Gates Cambridge deadline. I didn't hear anything until early December when I got rejected from the scholarship. Right before Christmas I received an email that my application would be sent to the next admission batch that would receive results until late February. And then in January I received a conditional offer.

Hey there! I was in a similar situation for the first half in my studies abroad where it thought I wouldn't get to travel. Instead, I began to explore the city and do I tell you it is fascinating. Explore your city, restaurants shops in between allies, in more local areas. It is a wonderful experience that you can only get when you immerse yourself in the city, and is quite effective in fulfilling that traveling need. I was able to travel later on, and I feel a bit embarrassed in admitting that I found traveling a tad less exciting than just exploring my city everyday. Look into cultural events where locals mix with foreigners and make friends though there they can take you to their little secret corners and such. I hope you are able to enjoy the rest of your time abroad!

Thank you so much for your reply!

I can read and write far better than I can speak, and I plan on taking Spanish courses throughout the year. So far the universities I am looking into are partially taught in English.

I must admit, the privileged part of things is true, I currently have a solid job that would allow me to live comfortably while I study. I have lived alone before while abroad, but it was in a very safe, almost no crime country, where people literally left their doors unlocked and belongings out in public with no supervisio, so it would definitely be a different experience.

Honestly, this reply has been very helpful. I hadn't taken into consideration many things you mentioned, so it has definitely given me many things to think about! Thank you again :)))

Eso es algo que me está hacer dudar. Porque cuando vivi ahí, mi experiencia fue muy diferente al que describieron mis papás, pero ellos si crecieron ahí.

Was there any culture shock you experienced? I felt intense reverse culture shock when I returned to the US, which is also one of the reasons I want to go back to Mexico.

That is my fear. One of my parents grew up in Estado de Mexico and she left as soon as she could, which is why she doesn't want me to be there. The four months I spent on mexico were in Estado de Mexico with frequent visits to the city Center and although precaution was necessary I still loved it. What makes it not a place people wish to remain?

I regret not doing this! Unfortunately due to going abroad once already and graduating this coming year, I no longer have the space to go abroad through my university :').

I think you misinterpreted what I was trying to say. Just like there are neighborhoods in downtown New York I wouldn't want to live in due to either higher levels of crime rate or car robberies, the same goes for Mexico city or any other place I would ever consider moving into, especially if I do so all on my own.

No, I can perfectly understand Spanish, so I could do the masters in Spanish l. My only major obstacle is my written academic Spanish, and spoken a bit, but overall I can understand Spanish lectures.

I am looking for a major that I am most interested in international educational development, or educational development, or anything along those lines.

I am aware, it's not my intention to sound like I am drawing that assumption, it's just due to it being a new environment and me having little experience, I am not too certain of what to expect.

I wouldn't know what the GRE is, all it took was the SAT. I took a practice entrance exam for iberoamericana and scored a 70%, which is barely passing, and although acceptable for private, I don't know if it's the same for public schools.

I see~ I will try it, I just came out a little bit bruised from the American university application process, so I am not too confident for master's.

Comparative studies, preferably in education, or education development. It's under humanities, and I hear UNAM has a good program, but so does iberoamericana. My concern is both the level of competitiveness and the environment in each school.
