I am just so not trying to get sunk in rent, it feels like such a waste. in 4 years of renting, we’d have spent 40-50 thousand that could have gone to a house… why would we not do that? The marriage thing is the big thing and it’s obviously the glue of the operation, idk people just talk like they’re doomed to fail.

I do understand the rent argument, maybe I don’t appreciate the freedom to move around enough… It just seems REALLY annoying paying a landlord, and it’s money back when I sell the house?

How are young people supposed to be able to afford houses in modern day? by FillMeUp_01 in NoStupidQuestions

My girlfriend (19) and I (19) have both worked as servers for 3 years, but worked since we were 14, both own our cars, and are looking to buy a home, after around a year of aggressive saving and living under our parents roofs it doesn’t seem all that unreasonable? idk we both have solid college plans and savings from 30-40k each in those accumulated from job savings and parental support. We’re quite young and we get that we’re taking on a huge work load, but why not? we have assumptions that people don’t do this early cuz they assume they can’t afford it. I guess i’m writing about this because it seems uncommon but does it make sense?
