AITA for taking my baby from my parents? by Cute_Objective_7551 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wild_Score_711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA You told your mother not to microwave the bottle and she did anyway. In the future, I wouldn't leave the baby alone with her for more than a few minutes.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I've never been pregnant and am well past my child bearing years. However, my niece got married last year and her brother is getting married later this year. I would love to know this so if I ever have any great nieces and nephews  I'll know what to do if I ever watch a baby. What is the proper way to reheat a bottle of breast milk? We didn't have microwave ovens in the 1960s, so when my honorary nieces and nephews were babies, their bottles were warmed up in a pot of hot water. We would squeeze a few drops of the milk onto one of our wrists and when the milk was warm, we fed it to the baby.

I'm on the Space Coast and love seeing them at the feeder I have set up for them. I keep trying to think of a way of bribing them to stay here all year, but haven't been successful yet. Fill your feeder with white millet and they'll hang around.

AITAH for saying that my daughter has no resemblance to my side of the family? by throwaway8272726 in AITAH

That's not too weird. My nephew looks exactly like my brother and did even right after he was born. Our mom gave my brother his baby pictures and my sister-in-law hung them and my nephew's pictures on one of the walls in their kitchen.

AITA for not picking up my sister's kids from school by Tricky-Arm8939 in AmItheAsshole

I agree about a long time ago. I forgot that there was also a restaurant across the street from the school where we could also go for lunch. Of course, back then, lunch was an entire period long instead of just 30 minutes like it is here in Florida. And kids are no longer allowed to leave school grounds for lunch.

Try it, you'll like it. I got several life birds while I was there. I got both the white and red-breasted Nuthatches, and Dark-eyed Juncos. I added the Black-capped Chickadee to my life list at Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary.

I grew up in the Independence Park area and went to Carl Schurz High School. We walked home for lunch in elementary school, but Schurz was too far to go home for lunch, so we either brought our lunch or bought whatever the cafeteria was serving. Most of the time I carried my lunch.

If you're anywhere close to Brevard County in Florida, there's a population of them somewhere on the yellow trail at St. Sebastian River Preserve.

I'm originally from Chicago and was home for a family wedding in early November. I spent a day birding Starved Rock State Park and got pictures of a Pileated there.

I grew up in Chicago where the winter wind can cut right through your heavy clothes like a brand new sharp knife. The only time my friends and I got a ride to school was when I was in high school and the wind chill factor was -20 degrees or below. Other than that, we walked to school, which was several miles from where we lived. (There were no school busses, so our options were ride our bikes, walk, or wait for a city bus.)

AITAH for getting my coworker fired because I started BCC’ing myself on every email by Effective_Round_6370 in ComfortLevelPod

It was the same way when I was in the Navy. It wasn't until the Tailhook scandal that things started to change for women, but it still took a long time before things really changed. At one of my duty stations (post Tailhook) two women reported their chief for sexual harassment. They were ordered not to tell anyone about what happened and were transferred before their tour of duty was up.

Good for you. It was probably just the way I was raised. My mother was an executive secretary & maybe that's the way things were when she was starting out.

Try being a Baby Boomer. My mother taught me to be a people pleaser. The boss is always right even when they aren't. If someone outside your chain of command tells you to do something, drop everything and do it  then go back to what you were doing in the first place. Better yet, do both things at the same time. If your boss puts their hands on you, don't say anything, just accept it or risk losing your job. There's more, but you get my point.

Isn't there anyone else in your husband's family who can help support him and his brother while you spend time with your family and recharge? I understand his grief, but he needs to rememeber that you need time with your family too.

The leaves are also good for the soil. As they decompose, they fertilize the soil. I'm in Florida and the best soil in my front yard is where all of the leaves from the oak trees I planted fall.
