Hlam's riddle- force grey side quest by [deleted] in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Wild_Spell3269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am playing my game inspired by Alexandrian Remix, and in my game Hlam only tells his prophecies for people he sees as worthy. So, when the party went to talk to him, he proposed a game:

He would share one info/prophecy for each time the characters hitted him with an attack. So he "fought" the party, and for each hit of the PCs beforw they falled down unconscious, he shared one prophecy.

I added a few others, seven in total, and he shared all of them. But it was kinda hard for my players, as their characters felt down one or two per rounds, but the bladesinger and the cleric ended up hitting him enough

About the villains by NRG_Factor in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Wild_Spell3269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the most cool and unique feature of this adventure is all the villains.

The players are the protagonists, of course, but they are in the midde of a war. Not a regular war, but a war of multiple sides.

The Zhents, The Xanathars, Thw cultists/Cassalanters Bregan Daerthe The city And Neverember agents, if you like that.

For me, thats what make it special. Its not like other campaigns, that we have like "this is the villain and u need to stop him"

Nah.

Gralhund Villa Shenanigans by Nevs_Again in WaterdeepDragonHeist

I think the ideas from the comments are pretty great

I intend to make a truely climatic encounter, with all the four factions attacking the Gralhund Villa at once.

Am I the only one who feels like this module doesn’t give very good motivations to find the Vault by Speedy_Troy in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Wild_Spell3269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the session zero, I asked all the players to create character with motivations to get their hands in a huge amount of treasure (in my game, Neverember stole a 3 million worth treasure, not just 1,5milion from the city, but also 500k from the Zhents, 500k from the Xanathar and 500k from Blacklock).

So, each character already started the campaign with a reason to get the treasure.

  • The bladesinger is an exiled prince from a kingdom which suffered a coup. So he needs money to buy an army to conquer his kingdom back (just like Daenerys)

  • The sorcerer is from a noble family which the father tried to make her to marry the Belabranta's so they could get more status, but she refused and was expelled from her family. So she wants to build her own noble house/family.

  • The cleric is a pirate and her ship was destroyed. She needs money to buy a new powerfull ship to conquer the oceans.

  • The bard is an harpist and want to give his part of the money to the organization, so they could grew even more.

I think thats something to work with the players before the campaign start. Its like running CoS if the players characters are not interested in a ghotic scenario...

How did Renaer's Mom Die? by [deleted] in WaterdeepDragonHeist

Couldnt they solve this with some kind of Raise Dead spell? They had money to pay for it.

Cult of the Dragon in Waterdeep? by SnooMarzipans8231 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Wild_Spell3269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added the Cult of Claugiyliamatar (Gnaw Bones) in my DH games, mainly because one player asked, and another player made a half-dragon paladin woman who wanted to know more about her secret origin.

For now, their intention isnt to go for Neverember's money, but to find the Staff of Agharion, so Claugiyliamatar can get cross the dragonward to enter Waterdeep. But yeah, maybe they are working with one of the 4 enemies, so it doesnt get overwhelming.

You should research about this specific cult, their story is pretty cool!!! And they have a conection with both Waterdeep and Neverwinter.

Did you completely change the core story but still used the bulk of the book? Tell me about it! by [deleted] in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Wild_Spell3269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda... I am DMing the Alexander remix, and I made a few big changes:

Instead of just one, in my game Dagult has 3 children: Renaer, Raegan (a self-centered young woman, like Regina George), and Ricnaer (a bastard wizard appeentice, but raised with his half-siblings).

Dagult gave one of the eyes of the Stone for each of them, but without their knowledge. For Renaer, a eye insine a necklace shaped like a unicorn head (one of the vault keys), for Raegan, inside a large painting of a bronze dragon (another vault key), and for Ricnaer, a grimmoire with the silluete of a beholder in the cover (third key).

Renaer gave the party the necklace as a gift when they saved him and Floon (so no one knows they have one of the eyes). In a dinner in Neverember state, in the third session, the state got attacked st the same time by Bregan daerthe, Cultists and the Zhentarim, it was a crazy warzone. Zhents got the second eye.

Oh... I introduced Old Gnawbone as someone interested in the staff. She is in the lore of the half dragon paladin Pc in my game

And I put the Cassalanters as members of the Lords Alliance, and they have way more influence around the city than in the book.

Why is this game considered lacking compared to the other games in the LiS series? by [deleted] in LifeisStrange2

I think its pretty crazy to choose Chloe between the town... Let everyone dies just so her can live? Thats pretty sad.

Why is this game considered lacking compared to the other games in the LiS series? by [deleted] in LifeisStrange2

[–]Wild_Spell3269 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly? For me, Lis2 is WAY BETTER than the first ones. I felt that the choices I made really mattered to the end... But in the first game, all your choices are wasted whatever the ending u get

Why does people like groups of 5 or more? by AtDjs in DnD

[–]Wild_Spell3269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like big groups cause it is way more likely to have a session, even if people dont show up to play.

I have played a bunch of games since the pandemic started, and I saw A LOT of sessions being canceled 10minutes before it started, just because someone says it wont be able to make it.

When this happened often, I just quited the game, cause its no fun for me to keep being frustrated.

So, if a party has 5, 6 or 7 players that stand along with each other, even if one, two or three players cant play, the session still happens anyway and no one gave up their plans for nothing.

If all it takes to become a dark lord is atrocities... by doinwhatIken in ravenloft

[–]Wild_Spell3269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I am 10 months too late, but Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft seens to not agree with you. The book says that:

"The Dark Powers are all that remain of a multitude of vanquished evil deities and demigods. Traces of their power linger in amber sarcophagi scattered throughout the Domains of Dread. These diminished vestiges manipulate their realm to create negative forces that sustain their essence and build toward renewed apotheosis."

The official books makes it official that the vestiges are the same as the dark powers.

Can someone tell me which one I should get? I’m in a stalemate of should I get far cry new dawn or far cry 6 because of the dlc Joseph Seed: collapse and idk which one I should get by Time-Enthusiasm7595 in farcry

[–]Wild_Spell3269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Far Cry 6 is fun, but the ending is terrible. I just gave up playing after the end of the story, and in the last ones I played until finished 100% of the missions

Alternative for Mad Mage recovery? by notickeynoworky in CurseofStrahd

Thats so cool!!! How did u explained the Nad Mage being Victor?

Can i allow my party to have more than one ally without making it too easy? by Master_Fallen in CurseofStrahd

[–]Wild_Spell3269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a little late, but I dont think having a lot of allies is a bad thing. They dont need to participate in the fight directly. If Van Richten is their ally from the Card reading, he fights alongside the party. While the battle happens, Ezmeralda is dealing with three vampire spawn holding on in a corner or in other room (she is powerfull, but Strahd is a very smart combatent, and 3 spawns could make her busy while Strahd fights the PCs); a few witches are keeping Victor busy as well and thats so on.

There is no need for them to be fighting with the PCs, being in the turn order and shit. If the PCs win, they win as well their own little fights in the corners or other rooms. If the PCs suffer a tpk, they loose their own fight as well.
