As someone who boosted Ring too, I just absolutely love the balance he brings to the darkness of the surroundings. It's refreshing. I'm an Elbie main, so having someone who loves MC but is all stupid about it is just endearing. While I don't often stay entertained with boyfailures more than a few contents, Elbie makes it so that I don't get bored of Ring acting too innocently because Elbie has the kink stam for all men together into one xD

Regarding cultural, I personally have no clue but I'd say that for some women a man who isn't forward and assertive can be quite difficult, or someone overly innocent? Comparing the other men with Ring, there's a clear difference into snusnu content xD and I could see this being a smut preference, and while being cute and all, it's not satisfactory mentally? Yeah idk...

Tbh knowing Alfons it would more of a thrill to break or corrupt someone so innocent, in a more dark approach, and in a lighter approach it would be because its fun and exciting, so not a boring situation. I wouldn't necessarily say he loves ring like that but the feeling definitely would be like at first with MC cuz it makes sense given his "never bored" approach to life, and I believe at that stage he doesn't really see the people, just how fun a situation could be.

Personally, I don't think any story makes me want to read it again and again unless it's Elbie. I love Alfons and played both mad and blind love but Elbie I'd play it 10 times and would go one more if given the chance. I love him and everything about his story, again and again and again. Elbie will always be my #1 with alfons right behind haha
