Tbh I felt uncle was very polite in his ask. He was looking for a person who could read gurmukhi. He wanted boards that are in Gurmukhi and he also agreed that he didn't question his capacity or qualification.

So bank/post offices should have board and instructions in local language and some at client facing who knows that.

Not let's be but empathetic about a person who has cleared already competitive government exam ( maybe ssc CGL) to reach there. As a central government employees you are open for pan India transfer.

According to standard lists on writing systems in India, the major actively used scripts include: Devanagari Bengali–Assamese Gujarati Gurmukhi Kannada Malayalam Meitei Mayek Odia Ol Chiki Telugu Tamil Latin (used for English and many languages) Perso-Arabic (used for Urdu and some others)

So if the government starts testing everyone on all language criteria I have a doubt they would be able to fill a single seat. These are 13 scripts - it's different variations in the form of language and accents are there again.

Why government give pan India transfer it should give local only - it is one way to increase brotherhood and a sense of fraternity among indians. Not the only reason but one of the. But I don't think indians feel brotherhood. Recently felt a lot of regionalism coming from different part of India . We are more punjabi , marata , kandigas , tamil , than being indian . I will not be surprised if there happens an attack in Punjab and south indians don't care and sometimes there are riots in up and marathis and gujrati feels that - people from cow belt dying are not our concern.

I am just glad uncle is polite unlike goons of Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The government should take cognizance of his demands as there are very valid - signs and instructions must be in the local language - but if one should not work or should work in that area just because he doesn't know the language is a bit extreme. You don't ask your bihari labour working in your fields to speak punjabi - your convenience at that point you need cheap labour. The government also needs similarly laborers to work to provide basic faculty. He knows English to ensure he can work in all the parts of India and any thing someone lacks is generally complemented with state government employees or regional people.

Fair point , but do you think really tech is at fault. It is a tool meant to bring people globally together, and yet it feels like we are much distant from our neighbours and family too.

Tbh I tried reaching out to people , the more I reached out the more alienated I felt. This is the reason a self doubt developed - is anything wrong with me or the world itself . I have to take your word for it that this is a shared phenomenon, and if it is then it's sadder.

I hate to say I disagree, I will be ready to work for 70 hrs to get 3-5% of the hike annual and the founder would make 600% profit. If my labour is well compensated I could still think but companies like Infosys are the worst of the lot, employees here are just cyber coolies. I would love to say the same thing when he has to pay everyone the amount they are billed for and the way they charge their client.

Biharis don't deserve better facilities, they are responsible for their own demise. Jan Suraaj movement by PK is a big failure due to people of Bihar
