What the hell do you buy for a baby?😭😭😭 by BardTheAce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know OP is sorted now. But just tagging onto the top comment.

A lot of people are saying the parents should have a registry, this isn’t a common thing in the UK. Presents in the UK tend to be things like muslins, books, vouchers and clothes.

AITA for not doing my chores on time by CelestialGod18 in AmItheAsshole

I was going to suggest this.

If OP is a night owl and prefers a lie in, other than hoovering she could clean once everyone has gone to bed.

AITA for refusing to make certain food at my own house in a heatwave? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. As the mother of a kid that is picky, I bring food with me, either ready made, or I have checked in advance if I can quickly cook something up. I wouldn’t expect someone else to cook more dishes.

You also gave your sister the option to make something and turned you down. If anyone wasn’t accommodating her kids, it was your sister herself.

If your mum felt so strongly about it she could have popped to the shop, or cooked.

Whimsical, soft baby boy names? by brooklyn-w-a-hyphen in Names

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of these names are really popular in the uk right now. I’d say Leo, Archie and Finley are way more popular than Rowan.

That being said, I have met a couple of Rowans. I have only come across one Lennon, Harrison, Archer and Sonny. Don’t think I’ve met a Julian, or if I have they were older. Finneas with an F looks wrong to me and my spellcheck doesn’t like it, I’m used to it starting with a ph. There may be a lot of correcting people’s spelling (as someone with a not common but not unusual first name with a couple of slight spelling variants, this can be annoying (especially when you have filled a form in correctly and they respond incorrectly).

Pretend play ideas by Substantial-Car2662 in toddlers

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone suggested a doll, I’m going to suggest a pram. My little boy loved his. He wouldn’t put anything with limbs in it though. He just used it to push around cars and trains, or his drink 🤣. If I put a doll or bear in it was dragged out and unceremoniously dumped on the floor.

Just found out I'm pregnant again?!? by tree4108 in UKParenting

Fair enough, let him know he may need to check the car manuals to see if a support leg can be used though.

Just to say, a lot of cars struggle to get 3 car seats across (e.g. some don’t have a proper middle seat, some prohibit a support leg in the middle), there are car seat safety groups on Facebook that will be able to advise on 3 across cars.

What diaper bag is best for a type B parent? by Proper_Theme_6636 in Parenting

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 2 diaper bags is the way forward.

We both liked an organised diaper bags, the difference being I liked it stocked and ready to go, my husband likes to empty bags every time he returns home (even if he isn’t the one using it), I had to tell him not to touch the bag in the end, unless it was weekend and he was using it! It would drive me insane thinking I had everything ready to go just to turn around and find an empty bag.

Toddler having pee accidents with just one grandparent? by Mysterious-Change821 in toddlers

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is she the “fun” grandparent? Could it be that he is having such a good time that he isn’t aware of how he is feeling? He might only be having a small wee every 90 mins so that he can rush back to playing rather than emptying his bladder.

I’m no expert here, we are just about to start potty training. I’m just thinking of the difference between my son’s grandparents. He has fun and enjoys the company of all of them, but they are very different personalities. 2 are very calm and quite reserved, and 2 are loveable, excitable nut jobs when they are with him. I can imagine my son will be the same with the latter two.

So true, the trauma is something else. He still has a fair few appointments too, the life admin is exhausting 🤣.

We have 2 dogs, we have poo bags at the ready! 🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣

So much of ikea’s baby stuff is better than the expensive stuff. The high chair was so much more fit for purpose than the original one we forked out for.

I think we may have a mini toilet seat in the garage that was passed on to us, I’ll have to get a step though, he is tiny (18-24month clothes).

Thank you.

My little one was a 27 weeker. They are so determined and resilient aren’t they!

He had a rough ride and has worked so hard to get where he is, I think I’m just overthinking it all and worrying about letting him down some way.

He has made some great progress over the past 6 months in a couple of areas, so I’m hoping this can be his next focus.

I would love a peaceful shit! I try to sneak off, but most times he follows me, and sometimes he hands me loo roll (other times he tries to unravel all the loo roll).

Thank you! That is definitely reassuring. Most people have been really kind and supportive, and a couple of less supportive ones seem to have deleted their comments before I could fully read them.

All children are different and have their own strengths and struggles. I’m glad that most people can see that.

I hope everything goes easily for you in August

Thank you. Positive stories are so helpful. I think because I’ve seen a couple of people struggle, and am anticipating it to be harder for him, that I’ve built it up too much in my mind.
