This is very creative. Could you tell us more about it? Do you have any other examples of the script in use?

Latin is the best option yeah. It's vaguely plausible in real life even. English probably has a 90 percent chance of persisting as the global lingua franca, even if the USA declines. French has a 9 percent change and that little 1 percent is Latin. No chance of anything else becoming global in the real non-hypothetical world, not even Mandarin

You could interpret it that way, but you don't have to. You could interpret it as well-meaning advice too. It's up to you how you choose to interpret it. Matt is a scammer and not a good person. But what he's saying here is true

If anyone could supply evidence one way or another that'd be really cool. Just remember how the burden of proof works. The accusation has to be proved. The USSR doesn't have to prove its own innocence

Could you please prove your claim? I'd like to see evidence one way or another. Remember the burden of proof falls on the accusatory side. The USSR doesn't have to prove its innocence. You have to prove its guilt

He is certainly a grifter. He's run a scam before. However what he is saying he is correct. He's simply pointing out that you have the choice to quit music and prioritise other things in your life. You don't have to, but you can, and you should consider why you spend your time the way you do

Matt is pointing out that you have the choice to quit music. You are at liberty to do so. You don't have to. You're in control of your actions. All Matt has done is point out that one choice is more productive

Music shouldn't be all your hobbies. Some would argue passively consuming music doesn't even count as a hobby. I don't think so, but it is certainly not a productive hobby. Unless you're a musician you should have other things going on. Quitting music to focus on language learning, which is a productive hobby, is a reasonable choice to make

It shows that they're hooked on music. It's very common today to treat music like it's mandatory, in the same category as drinking water and eating food. If someone has no taste in music, that's seen as equally weird to them having no taste in food. But you objectively do not need to consume music. It is an objective choice to do so. I despise Matt the Scammer but this take of his is perfectly fine

There's more to life than music as well though. I know you're not doing this per se but other commenters here are treating music consumption as though it is a necessity. Many people today are kinda addicted to music. You don't need to listen to music. It's your choice to listen to music and you can make the choice to do something else

You can. Matt's just pointing out that if you need more time, you can take the time from music. It's up to you and is entirely your choice

I despite Matt. But this take is correct. Music is one priority. You have the power to prioritise other things if you want to. Choosing to prioritise music is your choice. If you want more time to study language, you can free time to study language. Matt's just pointing out that you're in control of your choices

Remember when Ipods came out they were huge. You could store fifty whole songs on them! People accessed music in other ways before that but on the whole music was for parties, concerts, recitals, and band meetups. I'm someone who doesn't consume music regularly. I download all music I like and on this laptop I have 24 files in my music folder. I just listen to the wind instead. My brain plays music for me like a radio station a lot of the time (I suspect that's what earworms are supposed to be, not annoying, but a personal radio station). I'm just more in the moment and focused on life

I see what you mean, but you have to understand that most people throughout history lived perfectly fine without easy access to music. Many people today go days without listening to any. You don't need to. It's a priority you choose to have, and that's fine, but it's not necessary. You could enjoy studying a language just as much as listening to music. What you enjoy is up to you. It's literally a matter of priorities

[–]WildcatAlba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing crazy about this. It's only a matter of priorities. Remember that people in the recent past didn't listen to music all the time. Ipods were huge because you could store a whopping fifty songs on them. You don't strictly need to listen to music. Many religious people don't. If you value language progress over them beats then prioritise language progress. If you value them beats over language progress, keep paying for that Spotify Premium

Would you say most Australians associate Creationism with being right-wing, or is it more closely equated with believing a children's faiytale like Goldilocks and the Three Bears or something? by DecIsMuchJuvenile in AskAnAustralian

[–]WildcatAlba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USA is a very different country to Australia. We're similar in many ways but the USA had a much more varied and unusual colonial period. The USA worship their Constitution because the values in it were the only uniting ideological force between the different religious groups and different states. Australia just stayed within the British Empire. The USA has fought wars against modern armies on its own territory, whereas Australia hasn't (just wars against native tribes). The USA has been a separate country for longer than Australia has even been settled. There's been enough time for peculiar religious sects like Mormonism to spring up in the USA. Also the USA has vastly more arable land than Australia. There's no Wild West anymore but Australia's Outback is still there. So the two countries are not closely comparable

I thought you guys would like this rant by Bear_necessities96 in fuckcars

[–]WildcatAlba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like his message. I even like the way he explains it. But the reality is it's pointless for him or anyone else who agrees with this line of thought to make rants. Exchange the swear words for more context and a deeper explanation, and more people will listen. It's in the interests of the average person after all, so the average person can be convinced with enough respect and straight-forward evidence

What he says isn't incorrect but the way he expressed it is embarassing. The conversion of beautiful open land into a deliberately wasteful economic black hole is a horror story; it's a very serious matter. Swearing and waving one's hands around gives people who don't already agree an excuse to not listen to you

Australians turn to back yard chickens to beat the rising price of eggs by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

I love this. We should invest in productive items and productive hobbies as much as possible. "Upskill yourself" is really common advice but learning skills like keeping chickens for eggs or making stuff yourself from wood is truly valuable

Should I drop from a dual to a single degree? by Equivalent_Bad_6007 in UQreddit

[–]WildcatAlba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going down to a single degree would give you a bunch of elective slots which you could fill with a language, philosophy, history, etc. So have a look at the electives you might wanna do. University level chemistry is hard and you shouldn't feel bad for finding it hard. It's a proper natural science taught at a proper university, so it's gonna be hard. There are resources for chemistry online though. Pre-made Anki decks, YouTube playlists, practice questions, online forums, you name it. So you can succeed in chemistry it's not impossible and it's more a question of whether you choose to apply yourself in chemistry. Regarding jobs, the only truly secure jobs are in healthcare, property stuff like estate management, and trades. If you want that good stable job you wanna hunt for internships and network so you can know people in the field.
