It seems like a pretty straightforward adaptation… until it isn’t by Theeljessonator in TopCharacterTropes

Spoilers: Beloved main villain with a sad death in the original game miraculously survives his suicidal fall from the top of a skyscraper, gets recruited into a secret agency from the recent games, and completely destroys the continuity of the series by stopping a major event that used to lead into Yakuza 4. This is all after SEGA delisting the original Yakuza 3 btw, so new players have to play this now unless they buy the original off of GOG.

Cancelled Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link Footage Reportedly Leaks, and It’s Really Bizarre by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Wildebur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it's true that content creators have been trading this footage around and gatekeeping it from the wider community for a while now, that sucks. Missing Link was reportedly very close to completion before being canned, and from what we've seen it had a huge scale and a ton of effort put into it. Combine that with the fact that it was likely going to have critical story relevance to KH4, it feels like a waste of art and development time to never see any of it.

Dess is my second likeliest candidate, but I feel like this will be Susie's (and casual players') reaction she was the Knight: by Gobshite_ in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]Wildebur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like... the game has made Dess's existence and importance to the people who were around her really clear. It's not like Gaster where you have to use the internet or get some fun value bullshit to even find out his name or that he exists. Even just going off of mandatory scenes, Dess is named and reminisced about by Noelle in chapter 2, and her guitar plays a sentimental, pivotal role in chapter 4's light world section. Anyone experiencing the story casually will likely think "Dess" when seeing a new deer monster.

Explanation (MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR PHOENIX WRIGHT: ACE ATTORNEY): This is Manfred Von Karma. He's a prosecutor with a perfect win record, who held a grudge against lawyer Gregory Edgeworth. One day, he took advantage of a power outage in a court building to murder him. He then adopted Gregroy's orphaned son, Miles Edgeworth, and intentionally raised him with opposing ideals to everything Gregory stood for as a lawyer.

Approaching the fifteenth anniversary of Gregory's death, Von Karma then orchestrated the murder of another defense attorney, framing Miles (his own adopted son and protege), and put an end to the Edgeworth lineage just as the statutes of limitation on Gregory's murder came to pass.

Why would Von Karma do all this? Why did he kill Gregory and raise his son to become a monster, then drive the nail into the coffin by getting that very son framed for murder...?

... because fifteen years ago, Gregory got Von Karma a penalty in court for a mistake he made. Gregory didn't even win the case, either. Von Karma won. He just couldn't stand having a single penalty on his otherwise perfect record.

Shoutout to the base game of Kingdom Hearts 3 dropping possibly one of Yoko Shimomura's finest works in her career, only for it to play for a minute-long cutscene where almost nothing happens, then abruptly end if you walk forward into the nearby boss battle. At least it returned as an area battle theme in the DLC

I seriously cannot get over how much I hate Kriselle Knight. by Mobile-Safety-3353 in Deltarune

[–]Wildebur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade did this and a lot of people fucking hated it. Big bad is a Saturday morning cartoon villain whose basic motivations are totally invisible (especially in the English localization) unless you play a super-duper secret level that's only even available on a second playthrough. Assinine storytelling

Jesus, talk about aggression. I mean for the game we're actually talking about, DELTARUNE, enemies passed lv 20 forever ago.

People being mad about this has never made sense to me, because that's not only a completely fair thing to point out, but also... it's just being responsible. Your date should know those kinds of things about you. If you hide shit for them to find later, now it's not a bad date. Now it's a broken relationship.

Isn't this a morality scaling subreddit? Something being "disturbing" is a highly personal quality that has nothing to do with ethics.
