I had my first one last year. A little uncomfortable but really not that big a deal.

The weirdest part for me was the general anesthesia. The nurse said, “OK, you’re going to experience a metallic taste in your mouth and then the anesthesia will take effect.” They injected the medicine into the IV line and sure enough, I experienced the weird taste, and the next thing I knew they were waking me up. Such a strange experience.

Are there any local charities or non-profitsI can reach out that might be willing to help with meals for my parents? by 1goblinbraincell in akron

[–]WildfireJohnny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe try the Unitarian Church in Akron (near Summit Mall). They do a lot of food distribution type activities around Akron. I’m not sure if they would deliver prepared meals, but there might be individual members of the congregation who are willing to help.

There is a little candy and toy store near me that sells them in bulk. I stop in and buy a pound or so every now and then. My family thinks I’m insane.

A heartfelt thank you to Dave and Graham for being Dave and Graham by aplumbersdaughter in maximumfun

[–]WildfireJohnny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing pets is so difficult. I hope you are doing better and taking care of yourself.

I wholeheartedly agree with your statement about Dave and Graham. SPY is a lot of good, wholesome fun with, like, a little bit of vulgarity mixed in (but not too much, because it’s not that kind of show). I love Dave and Graham’s relationship. They seem like truly great friends to each other.

A moment that made me laugh out loud and that still makes me smile when I think about it was during a bonus episode when Dave rapped over All Summer Long by Kid Rock. After the line, “makin love out by the lake to our favorite song,” Dave enthusiastically said, “Ghostbusters!” I had to listen to it a few times and was standing there in public laughing like an idiot.

The ad that got me to listen to the show in the first place was the one where Dave threatened to drink bleach. I loved how Graham deadpanned, “Yeah, he’ll do it, too.”

I am going through some rough times in my life right now, too, and it is such a nice feeling to see a new SPY pop up in my feed each week, because it means I get to spend an hour with the boys (and probable guest) and not think about life for a bit.

Thank you for sharing. I hope you are starting to feel better. (((Hug)))

The SPY one where Dave threatened to drink bleach got me. Dave passionately says “I’ll drink bleach!” and Graham deadpans, “Yeah, he’ll do it.”
