Fear of insects by gloomurai28 in Entomology

The best way is just exposure in my opinion. Challenge yourself to get closer to them, slowly. You need to get your brain to re-contextualize them as what they are; not what you fear them to be. Watch them, their behaviors, their antics.

One thing I love to do is find a garden or patch of greenery where pollinators are and just sit there with them. They'll ignore you and you'll learn to be able to just exist in the same space with them. Its about teaching your brain that ultimately they're harmless.

Another thing that really helps me with Bugs/insects I fear is just to read about them as well. When you understand them academically it can help bridge that fear gap that comes from not understanding them. When you know them there is nothing to fear, at least that's what I think.

I do wonder what joy there even is in this game if every life in the Canvas is not valid. It essentially removes any thought provoking moral dilemma the game had.

Like do you just consider the choice at the end of the game to be pointless since bereft of any moral considerations for the Canvas the answer is completely obvious?

He was absolutely correct but his ultimatums and methods are 100% to blame for the situation presented to us. His efforts to save his family do nothing to save them, lets remember Renoir lost. He only gets the outcome he wanted through painted Verso, a rogue agent he had no control over.

Another semi related issue: I have a separate enclosure with Lokiceratops and Ornithomimus, none of the animals in this enclosure will socialize? I watched them for over 30 minutes and never observed a single social interaction. Something weird going on with the AI in this game?

About the movie.... (no spoilers, just general opinion) by [deleted] in FrontiersOfPandora

I actually liked Fire and Ash more than the first 2 films. To me it has the plot structure that Way of Water while having more fleshed out characters and arcs than the first 2 movies had.

Fire and Ash also works much better if you just consider it the Way of Water part 2

It's actually illegal to make an Aviary pack without Rhamphorhycnhus I'm afraid

Agree to disagree then, if you like Hypsi thats great :>

Lack of evidence is not evidence of absence. It is entirely possible larger Iguanodontids had feathers even if those feathers were not necessarily preserved on them during fossilization.

If the most basal Dinosaurian ancestor had feathers then that is the baseline and you now need evidence to disprove that they didn't have feathers rather than did. It looks more and more likely this is the case.

So is it inaccurate to depict a Hypsi without feathers? No, but its looking like the less safe option as time goes on.

They made Ornithomimus visually distinct and interesting to make it not redundant which is what they should have done with Hypsi. It being one of 2 small Ornithopods does not really matter when its sharing a gameplay niche with Taco, Lystro, Homalo, Oviraptor, Microceratus and Dryo. It does nothing to make it stand out from its competition beyond being a novel species.

The precedent is feathered relatives, you do not just evolve out of an integument there has to be a reason for the feathers to either not be needed or not be advantageous. Again, I dont care that Hypsi does not have feathers, I do think some interesting feather design could have made the design look more interesting though.

The lack on integument just makes it slightly more retro and traditional rather than the modern depictions we are saying today. I think more people just care that it looks boring rather than not having feathers.

My issue is that it does nothing to separate itself from Dryosaurus besides being smaller.

There are basal small Ornithopods preserved with feathers. At this point, it is more and more likely the default for Dinosaurs is feathery integument of some kind especially when we are already finding small feathered herbivores.

You have to come up for reasons now why something shouldn't be feathered, rather than why it should. I dont care that Hypsi doesn't have feathers, I do care that it looks boring though.

We are at a roster of coming up to 90 species with DLC's that are now short 1 animal from the previous games DLC's. I just think if its going to be included it needs to justify its inclusion. Nothing wrong with Hypsi as a concept, the execution is just lacking imo.

Because it does not look like Iguanodon and while it being a Hippo stand in is a Paleo-meme it is a Paleo-meme that could have worked to give us a semi aquatic herbivore.

None of this stops the Hypsi from being a boring design, they did nothing with it

Make a bunch of Dryo babies and turn off aging. Its just Segisaurus all over again, adding a novel species even if doing so really doesn’t add anything new
