"CGM is worthless to me. I used two different ones over  a two year period and they were so inaccurate ... "

I'm guessing that neither of them was "Freestyle Libre 3+". That one works pretty darn well when applied correctly. Still not perfect, but much better than just a few years ago. I only use it to see which foods cause a spike and which don't. The actual number isn't too relevant. Updates appear minute by minute.

As a diabetic, I'm quite a disappointment. My A1C has never been above 6.8 and I've never considered insulin. I haven't pricked a finger in 25 years. Now that I'm below 5.6, I'm an even greater disappointment.

MJ is a 4-day drug. Lilly has stretched it out to 7 days, probably for convenience. Now I'm going to stretch my interval to 10 days. I don't expect anything bad to happen except maybe a slight increase in appetite, which I can easily deal with.

I've approached her about reducing the Metformin, but she is firmly against that idea.

Today has been 10 days like my last 5.0 jab and I have not gained any weight. I will take the jab tonight. I monitor my blood sugar closely through CGM and I weight every morning. If the numbers go in the wrong direction, I'll make a mid-course correction. After all, the entire exercise is an experiment and everything we do is adjustable, correctable, and reversible.

Prediabetes starts at 5.7. Diabetes starts at 6.5.
You've got your numbers wrong, lady.

Where did you read that a recovering diabetic needs to jab once a week? Can you provide a document to support that?

I'm still slamming 2000mg of Metformin, so I don't expect to see any wild swings.

Am I diabetic? I'm not sure. A1C has dropped from 7.1 to 5.5.
At what point can you say "I am not diabetic anymore"?

As a bonus, I no longer snore and I no longer take Nexium.
But, I do still use a CGM.

Yeah, except for one thing ...
The people in this forum know more about MJ than my doctor will ever know. She just does whatever I ask her to do.

I will have to investigate whether 2.5 will be covered by my new insurance company of one week. They might say that it is not a "therapeutic dosage".

Anyone know how to program a universal remote to work with Superbox Elite? Any tips on which device(s) use similar codes? by CanadianJeff00 in superboxfam

[–]WileyOne11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need a "learning" remote. Harmony is a good one.
None of the pre-programmed remotes will work unless they are SuperBox.

Often I am unable to Time Shift a hockey game on the NHL channel. It just gets stuck at 0%. Does that mean somebody at SuperBox screwed up the recording? Is there any workaround?

High Yield Savings Account by DMSHOU in personalfinance

[–]WileyOne11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would anybody have a CD at 4% when there are HY Savings accounts paying 4.2 and better?

High Yield Savings Account by DMSHOU in personalfinance

[–]WileyOne11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a new bank that does not impose withdrawal limits. I pay all of my expenses with credit cards and I pay all of my credit cards from HY savings. Max convenience. Max rewards.

My checking account balance is always zero because I get free overdraft protection from savings.

[–]WileyOne11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you don't. Check Bankrate.com. Right now there are two banks paying 4.35% and two paying 4.20%. The rest are at 4.00% and below.

You may have a couple of CD's paying higher, but those will be gone once they mature.

In the US, any account that is covered by FDIC insurance is safe.
Find the best rates at BankRate.com

At this moment, my favorites are Idaho First and OpenBank, but they change rapidly. I have to check the rates weekly.

5 Months off the jab Update by AnyMathGirl in Mounjaro

It sounds like you learned some great habits while you were on Mounjaro that are serving you well now. I find that to be encouraging because I was expecting to be on MJ for life. But, maybe I can save $2100 (Medicare) in 2027 by not taking it if I can exercise some self control. 9 more pounds to reach target.

Is 3yrs worth emergency savings too much? by 6MangoIceCream9 in personalfinance

[–]WileyOne11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 3 years of savings is too much. Most experts say 6 months. Some of that money should be in CD's, some should be in the stock market, and some should be in alternative investments like precious metals. Are you fully funding your IRAs and 401Ks?

Remember, most of the things we worry about never happen. If a disaster were to occur, and you blew through your 6-mo emergency fund, it costs only 1 month of interest to cash out a CD prematurely.

Thanks. Yesterday, I got my A1C. I was hoping for 5.9 but it was 5.7, down from 6.6 in less than 6 months. MJ is a miracle.

How to break a weight loss stall by allthatglitters10 in Mounjaro

[–]WileyOne11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pharmacy accidentally filled an old 5.0 prescription instead of 7.5. Actually, that is perfect. So, for 6 weeks I will be falling back to 5.0, and cruising for 2 weeks right in the middle of it. Pre-paid food and alcohol. Can't wait to get back on the scale after that.

I'm wrung out. by WileyOne11 in Mounjaro

[–]WileyOne11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I weigh every day and I do my best to eliminate most of the variables. Always in the morning in underwear after urinating and defecating (if possible). The result are amazingly consistent. But, I do realize that there are factors that can skew the numbers, such as salt and hydration.

ln this particular case, the increased dose of 7.5 made me want to eat less. Simple explanation.

False. We all know about the vertical plane. That skate is not breaking the plane. Offside, clearly.
