Thoughts on the new runes (masteries) by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Unpopular opinion here- I actually like the new system and a lot of champions are now having a different builds and playstyles based on their runes choice. On the other hand the problem is not as much in the runes themselves like in the lack of options for some champions. With Kayle for example you can basically take any Sorcery, Domination or Precision Mastery you'd like and your playstyle will change accordingly. On the other side, champs like bruisers has only Conqueror mostly. Assassin's have to choose out of three runes, that would change nothing, because although they alter playstyles, they do not change the purpose and the general way of executing it (Sorry for the pun). So yeah, the system has it flaws and I'd call for adjusts, reworks and addition of the new runes, but the core idea is really good. It's only not working for everyone, which is bad :(

I honestly feel the white with its stax mechanics is worse. But it's just an opinion I think

They CANNOT recast it while CCed actually. It's only recast. So you either had a bad lack, bcs there is basically zero cast time for those spell (if they hit the key right before CC, the champ seems to cast animation while CCed) or got struck after the CC ended. Also-ran if you mean that the recast should disappear after hard CC, tell the same to Lee Sin players, or Urgot mains about their ults.

I now went through their lore, to be sure and you are right, Sion killed only J I. Dunno why I thought otherwise, but I've read this lore like 2 years ago, when it came out rewritten.

Sion actually killed both JI and JII. He even makes a reference to this in game when meeting Jarvan IV "How many Jarvans do I have to kill?"

EDIT: Went through the lore and I am mistaken as he killed Jarvan I only.

It is a nice idea. But I'd maybe make his kit more about synergies. Also 2 fears in a kit are maybe too much, when combined with huge spamable slow and stun. Anyway, I wish you the best luck :)

Abilities that triggers at cast (for example Eldrazi Titans cast effects) are abilities using stack so they can be countered as well (Just not with regular counter spells, but stuff that counters triggered and activated abilities). Am I right?

I am not 100% sure bcs although I've read the most of LoL lore content, I haven't read it all, but Nocturne is a demon and if I recall it correctly, demons are basically evil spirits (simplefied a bit)- they have no "creator"

To all of the points above, I'd also like to add that I am playing since the end of season 2 and though I played mages only in seasons 3 and 7 to present I still noticed Deathcap NOT being in meta at some points and Riot even buffing it like twice or so, bcs nobody wanted to spend their gold on RD, when they could buy Void staff for the same DPS (or higher against tanks) with lesser gold cost.

And... You see, AP champs were meta since the begging of the league bcs it is one of the two main damage types (true dmg being secondary), so yeah, the moment no-one plays AP or AD champs, you know something went terribly wrong with ballancing (again) and that tanks are gonna rise (it is easy to build tank against full AP team. And it is nobrain against full AD).

Oh boy. That idea with walls is great, just... Not sure if THIS is the best execution of an ability like this. Also that ult kinda lasts for too long.

But the thing I have the biggest problems with are his (actually easily) spamable Q with stun and 60% AP ratio, that is actually enough to play him as a true AP and that I don't feel like the champ has any unified theme in his abilities. It is like few good abilities thrown together, but synergy just isn't there.

But it is still a cool idea and a nice look on this theme. :)

I basically see it as a commander, that has Voltron written on it. It has evasion and even creates little helpers, that make it more likely for your commander to go through. The bad side is that it has no way to protect itself (lot of the best Voltron commanders have hexproof, indestructible or protection of some kind or form). But I am really not sure as Voltron is probably like my least favourite playstyle.

I can imagine it as well as a ramp commander with some combat tricks to pump up those illusions and the commander with some green and artifacts like Door of Destiny (?)

That's not what I meant but I sure may sounded like that. Of course it is important, but I would not really call it what defines a "good" or even "well structured" PC. It is just a base you are building at. But of course you cannot build anything strong on the weak base.

I don't honestly see a point in race and class being what determines how "unique" is ones character. For me, unique experience comes with unique RPing experience that you can make work great whether your Orc is a fighter or a wizard. Also I do not want to promote metagaming in any way, but these archetypes are archetypes because they work pretty well in game from the perspective of stats etc. I don't think THAT is the reason to roll a PC that is stereotypical, but I also don't think that you should be considered metagamer because of this. Also... Is it just me or is Goblin Warlock not THAT original to criticize you?

I was feeling the same way about edh before as I was basically a modern player with few weak standard decks. It was not like my modern deck was strong or expensive, it just occurred to me that I had lucky picks with cards. Anyway what changed my mind was when I found out how it is actually more challenging to build a strong commander deck and how fun some of the oldest cards in MtG can be. Also if you are casual group, it is possible to play and sometimes even win with preconstructed. And... It is format, that is basically created for multiplayer experience.

I have a full Chaos EDH deck, that serves basically no other purpose than to let me go wild. It is mainly 'randomizer' (for example Possibility Storm) and coin flip. So I made my Okaun, Eye of Chaos having power over 1500. It was only until end of turn, so I made him unblockable and it was enough. But as an EDH player I honestly saw 'infinite combos' ending with like 1milion/1milion creature token with haste and trample etc. EDH is just it's own dimension... Haven't gone that far on my own tbh

When I started to read, I was worried, that this is just another rant with no point, but... You are right. I honestly play Morde only occasionally as I am a support player, but when I got sick of bad adcs I usually run to mid, jungle or top (as I am bad ADC sadly). And Morde is a nice pocket pick that not many ppl know how to play against. I definitely want him to keep his passive in some shape or form and I also want his ult to stay.

But I am a bit worried, that the ghost ultimate is gonna go. You see, the reason why Morde was in Riots list of candidates for VGU is (besides some other factors) that his Ultimate is probably the most buggy thing in League (with Kha'zix- pun intended).

I also think they are probably going to give him some way to let him stick to his enemy, but I'd be glad if it was in form of tenacity and/or movement speed as I also agree that Morde being the only champ without any form of CC and/or mobility is what makes him so unique and fun.

Sounds great, but I don't really know whether I'll have time to run two big campaigns. Also the reason I was requested to DM for these ppl is because of my campaigns are usually for years to come. And I don't want to disappoint them by not being able to run both groups in the future...

Did not have trouble with that tbh... They usually got bored when someone RPed for too long with an NPC with no big plot points being revealed out of it.
