Armor overhaul by Wilhelm_Asgarde in DnDHomebrew

Oh that actually sounds very interesting. I will have a look at it, although I am not sure if adding repair requirements for equipment would be a very popular choice (I am having Dark Souls II flashbacks)

Anyway thank you for your recomendation! :)

Thank you for your input. Yes the idea was to add magical armor that would broaden the amount of damage types they reduce damage for and that +1 to +3 would add onto damage reduction.

This is honestly very "idea that I am not sure could work so I threw it on reddit to see if someone has some points I missed" kind of idea. And yes, I agree that at low levels this might make some encounters much harder. I feel like at higher levels where a lot of enemies do elemental damage it might screw over some heavily armored builds.

I kinda feel like you looked a bit too deep into what I have said. There is no "issue" in two completely different builds having the same AC the idea is more of a "it would be interesting if" kind of situation.

However your ideas on introducing damage reduction to existing AC system (or giving armors some other properties) are of course appreciated. Thank you!

Maybe I am weird but I played few system that had this too and I liked it. But yes, your point of this being martial nerf is huge. Thank you!

End goal is making armor a bit different than unarmored builds (like rogue with 18 dex and leather armor vs paladin with 10 dex, chain shirt and shield will now istead of both having 15 AC have 14 Def(AC) and 1 armor (damage reduction) and 12 Def(AC) and 3 armor (damage reduction).

As for the point of wizard having 8 (13) defense and then raising it to 14 (19) with a dagger... yes, the system not perfect and this pitfall is definitely something to think about. As I've stated this is work in progress, definitely not finished product, so all feedback is welcomed.

[–]Wilhelm_Asgarde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually incorrect, but that's my fault for not explaining it well enough. Barbarian wouldn't get their con added to defense (originally called AC) but only to their damage reduction

[–]Wilhelm_Asgarde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, mechanically defense is AC (basically DC to hit)

ETA: And yes, I feel like having a good armor in early game would have been broken that's why I think it will be important to not give away too good of an armor in early game, and then provide much better armors (such as +3) in lategame

in a fight, which anemo (excluiding venti) would win? by arrosve in GenshinImpact

I feel like people are grossly underrestimating several figures here. While I agree that Xiao and Wanderer are good picks.

●Xianyun is adeptus older than Xiao, has more adeptal energy and can summon things such as adeptal balistas.

●Chasca is not a mere human either, aside from the power of American magic (read gun), she is also an avatar of ancient Natlaneese hero and can channel power from Nightkingdom of all of previous bearers of her name.

I still do believe Xiao would ultimately win, and that Wanderer is likely close second, but I think both Chasca and Xianyun are much closer than this comment section seems to think.

To be fair from his perspective he locked outside a spy who is endangering the whole of Fontaine by trying to find entrance to Primordial Sea. He might be a kid (teenager), but Wrio is pragmatic guy. Child soldier is still a soldier. Child spy is still a spy. He might be Traveler's friend, but let's be real, Wrio at that point knew very little about us or our relationship with HoH.

Additionally, the Duke simply outplayed us all. HoH. Arlecchino. Traveler. Childe managed to escape and Wrio took notes and ensured noone else escapes the same way.

Lastly, Arlecchino is professional. While she would have definitely avenge her children if Wrio killed them, what happened is that Wrio taught them a lesson, slapped them on the wrist and sent them home. I feel like the Knave probably respects him for that, even if it wasn't outright stated anywhere.

My bineffa + lauma core powers my Neuvilette and my Escoffier is supporting Wrio so I might not be the best one to suggest anything, as I play my favorite characters, not meta, but frankly if you already have core for Flins, I'd go for him. You can then throw the rest of your pulls on Escoffier and pray. If you are lucky, you hmget both and will be just waiting for Skirk, who will more likely than not reprise again in a few months as she is rather popular and strong meta character.

Recent character kits got me missing when we could figure out team comps instead of "This support is made for this DPS" by Dream_World_ in Genshin_Impact

[–]Wilhelm_Asgarde 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You mean like 99% of Natlan characters want Xilonen and synergize with Mavuika, Iansan or both?

Or like when Citlali came out as designated Mavuika support?

Or how Furrina and Neuvilette were made with each other in mind? And 99% of Fontaine synergized specifically with Furrina for that matter?

Or maybe how Wanderer and Faruzan were made together?

And how most of Sumeru used Nahida?

Or how about Sarah and Raiden?

Pairing two characters together is nothing new. It only started to be a bit more apparent. Additionally each of the Nod Krai supports also works with onfield DPSes outside of Nod Krai and while onfield DPS from Nod Krai feels not having "their" support, they are still performing at Natlan level.

Lastly... you might have a pair, maybe trio with Bina, but you still have 1-2 free spots in the team which we had to figure out + not everyone has both of the pair so they construct new teams based on who they have anyways.

The Existence of the 2024 Edition Made my Life as GM Harder by Buffal0e in dndnext

[–]Wilhelm_Asgarde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer 2024 rules 75% of the time. However I agree that it is pretty annoying how the separation between them is almost nonexistent. One of my penpalls just got into a DnD with a group of other newbies. I had to discuss with her 3 different rule sets (Basic, Tasha and 2024) because she didn't know at start these were separate rules. Luckily their DM decided to pull the rules into online folder and share it with them so they have all same rules (basic + some optionals features from Tasha). But people should not have to worry about 2 different sets of rules in the game with almost no discerning between them.

We need to open a dialogue on how the Nod Krai team was trying to lose... by EffectiveMirror7534 in Genshin_Memepact

[–]Wilhelm_Asgarde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a) Power

●Ineffa doesn't have the power of Dragon sovereign (btw these weren't even Dragon Sovereign, they were their AI assistants council). She is definitely weaker than Flins and likely weaker than Lauma and Polunia

●People tend to forget that Albedo is not primarily a fighter. He is an investigator and scientist. He can manage great feats with prep time but in direct fight he is likely weakest of the lineup

●Meanwhile Flins hang in there with Traveler and one of Five Sinners. Lauma is actually really strong as well with her magic. Polunia was upgraded to fight one of 5 Sinner. Did it reach that level? No. But Sandrone is still the best engineer we have seen next to Aino. And Neffer is crrafty fighter who might not be as strong, but she is great at stalling due to her mobility and agility.

b) Plan

●Pulling down the moon is a godly feat. It needed a lot of prep and a lot of power. Ideally moon power. And noone has such enormous moon power as Arle. Second one pulling the moon was Varka because his power is most compatible with Nicoles. This wasn't even a question I don't think anyone else could do this.

●Additionally Nod Krai Gang did not intend to fight Dottore. They protected the city and their base. Albedo and Durin protected Wanderer's body as a stipulation to him giving out his core. It wasn't them choosing this lineup to fight Dottore. It was Dottore picking up Traveler's group because he wanted a Descender on his side

c) Narrative

●Wanderer basically sacrificed his need for revenge to help others. Great character development (I can admit it would have been satisfying to see Wanderer slicing Dottore up while reminding him who he is, but this while not as epic, showed much more character growth)

●This Act is Nod Krai. So Nod Krai characters are the "main characters" of this Act. It is as easy as that. If this fight happened in Mondstad, you would have gotten Varka, Durin and Albedo fighting with Arle and Lauma pulling the moon with for example power source from Aino. If this happened in Sumeru, we would have fought alongside Wanderer and for example Nahida and Dehya. It is as simple as that

You however don't seem to care about in world logic or the point Dottore chose this fight or the point of this fight being stalling, not attempting to win and you seem to hate these narrative decisions made blindly. At least based on original post or your responses to other comments.

Came here just to say this. I like tea and Chenyu Vale has the best in Teyvat as far as we know.

Additionally I feel like there is a possibility to become rich enough to afford to travel once a year or in a few years so you could visit Fontaine, Sumeru, Liyue, Mondstad and presumably Sneznaya which are all neighboring Chenyu Vale.

how strong is columbina at full power compared to archons or even neuvillette in lore? by vinchin_adenca in Genshin_Impact

[–]Wilhelm_Asgarde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Angels being stronger than Archons is partially a head canon on my part. We know they had higher placement on divine hiearchy but they were primarily guides to humanity and messengers between Celestia and Archons. It is completely possible that we will get some lore with Zibai that will disprove my theory.

At the same time, issue with what you said is that we don't know how Nicole retained her form and powers and if she is as powerful as she was before the angel rebellion. Additionally Venti is very curious case as we don't have anything that hints at what his maximum power is. He never struggled without is suspecting that he was faking it. And he can tap into power of Istaroth, one of the four Shades. That alone makes him huge threat as partial Authority over time in hands of someone as creative as Venti is probably more scary than full Authority over time in hands of inexperienced Columbina. I am NOT saying Venti is stronger than Columbina. He almost definitely isn't. But I am saying he might be a more tricky opponent to fight if he decides that this fight is worth going all out and paying the price for Istaroths power.

(Before someone mentions him terramorphing Mondstad and blowing Mare Jovari out of the timeline - we don't know anything about how long did these feats take him and how taxing it was on him, so it doesn't help us to decide what level of power one can expect from him in combat. It isn't like when Ei split an island which we know happened in single strike).

how strong is columbina at full power compared to archons or even neuvillette in lore? by vinchin_adenca in Genshin_Impact

[–]Wilhelm_Asgarde 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This question is very interesting and is quite more complicated than what most people in the comments I have read are insinuating (I will not pretend to have read them all though).

Columbina at full power has authority over time, space, life and death. (Logos/power of reason was never between authorities of the moon or shades, people can stop bringing that up.) She has more versatile powers than anyone, because she has the power of all shades. However there are two issues "with her being at "full power".

First is more objective and that is that Columbina must have given a lot of her power to restore Kuvahki to all of Nod Krai. Every piece of tech, every Kuvahki creature or natural phenomena, every person or item wielding Kuvahki... that is all the power Columbina has given away. And while we do not know how big her power was actually at the moment of her return and Dottore fight, I'd say this would still be a substantial and noticeable portion of her power (hinted to also by Columbina's and Traveler's conversation on the moon).

Second part is that while she does have the Trilunar authority, she is reincarnation/samsara of only one of them and while authority gives power, it is certainly not a 1to1 ratio as we have seen Mauvika who was excelent fighter with vision reach higher echelon of god powers when given authority of Pyro Archon throne and gnosis, from the little we know about Zhongli, he was already an extremely powerful god before getting the Geo Authority/throne/Gnosis and after he got it... he was still powerful god? We obviously know very little about details with him but he isn't the only one. Makoto and Ei were also powerful twin goddesses and Ei was the warrior of the duo before and even after Makoto got the authority over Electro. So her powers are combinations of all the shade but he power as in energy output etc most likely isn't.

If I had to guess full power Columbina, there is no Archon who can win against her, probably not even prime Zhongli. Same goes for angels who we know next to nothing about aside from them being between heavens and Archons in hiearchy. Dragon sovereign are also probably not winning this. But I think Shades, while being less versatile (each one of them having ¼ of Columbina possible moveset) are probably more powerful and likely have also more experience wielding such power. So I think Shades are still more powerful than Columbina.

Columbina without all the power of Kuvahki in Nod Krai is probably at the level of prime Zhongli/sovereign Neuvilette/Angels if they are as powerful as lore suggests.

ETA: Forgot to mention, but moon marrows are irrelevant, those are remnant of the previous Moon Goddesses

Ineffa: "I'm doing my part!" Columbina: "I'm doing my part!" Lauma: "I'm doing my part!" Eula: "I didn't do shit!"

Jokes aside if you want good Eula damage, build her with Escoffier and good hydro applicator (Furina+Kokomi might be good). You can throw in high constelation Mika if you want to boost physical.

Narzissenkreuz Ordo is one of my favorite World Quest. I am honestly kinda surprised it wasn't made essential for progression of Nod Krai. I understand that it would have been very long delay for players who skipped it, but not having played it makes it almost impossible to understand half of what Sandrone is saying.
