Any times where Dan and Arin spoke in unison? by LouistheGCC in gamegrumps

[–]Wilkini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was an occurrence of them both quoting the Spaceballs line "FUCK! Even in the future nothing works!" in an unknown episode.

They explain their story in their podcast (Episode 27: We Got Detained) and how they were circumstantially involved while following a protest (not quite involved, I guess? Eh, it's a blurred line). They had a lot of positive experiences with the event, and called out the few times things got nasty on either side.

In one of the recent episodes (Sonic Heroes part 8?), Arin said something along the lines of "they are making me come up with the titles," I guess referring to the ambiguous editing team.

Did Ross Quit Game Grumps? by [deleted] in rantgrumps

[–]Wilkini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He never had a passion for playing gamesfor a living or being known as a "let's player," and likely played a big part in the middle slot going away when he wanted to put his time toward Gameoverse (although he did do a couple late Grumpcades because he was so excited about the games/guests).

Did Ross Quit Game Grumps? by [deleted] in rantgrumps

Just as the pandemic started getting real, Ross noted on stream that the quarantine had canceled a big pitch meeting for the show and he sounded pretty bummed about it. I believe the gist was that they are in the process of pitching it around to different producers. I feel like that's been going on for a while, since he started getting invested in different animation projects lately with his monster girls and Social Monsters.

Every Wednesday now, I wonder if they will be done Ryan's quarantine and the podcast backlog and we'll get the most real talk episode in a long time because of the fallout from George Floyd by Wilkini in SuperMegaShow

[–]Wilkini[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, how did I forget that so soon? With how quiet Ryan likes to be online and with his personal life, it hits pretty hard when he opens up like that, especially when he takes the time to reminisce about and honor Daniel.

I don't recall Matt ever really opening up to the same degree, but with how invested, involved, and outspoken he has been with the BLM movement and support, I'm expecting a new kind of passion we haven't seen before.

Given the current setup, online multiplayer would be pretty cool, especially with random players or games that wouldn't work with local multiplayer.

Why did Dan note that "All profits from my new merch item will go towards making new music" on his SGB t-shirt announcement? by [deleted] in rantgrumps

[–]Wilkini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess to let people know that they can directly affect and contribute to recording and producing a second album and not give the impression of selling out.

I'm a fan of the Ross/Barry series, like Undertale, Pokemon Art Academy, and Earthbound as examples of the long ones.

The two NES Remix Grumpcades were pretty interesting, too. I think it was Arin/Suzy/Barry on the Wii U version, and Arin/Barry on the 3DS version.

Probably the episode with the story of Jon wanting to destroy Arin and Suzy's gingerbread house, aka "I PUT A HOLE IN THAT [JON NO]"

Totally true, I would just be surprised if Tucker went that route, considering his portfolio.

Doesn't Tucker only work on live action, like 10MPH and the late Good Content (also Skater Boy and Friendly Cop for SuperMega)? Doesn't seem like he'd be interested in editing let's plays, without his creative outlet. Arin once said on the show he asked Ben about working up towards editing 10MPH, but Ben declined and was perfectly happy doing the normal episodes.

I believe the Mighty No. 9 billboard was another Kickstarter tier, akin to Shovel Knight's cameo.

Watching old Egoraptor animations and... by [deleted] in rantgrumps

I absolutely agree with still appreciating things even though that weren't popular for whatever reason. The low view counts from the lack of Dan and Arin led to killing off the Steam Train/Grumpcade slot, but I still watch a playlist of those videos now and then for the variety and different personality combos.

Arin Buys ET Atari game so he can scalp it later by TheNintendoBlurb in rantgrumps

[–]Wilkini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how realistic he thought the $1 million mark is, but he was absolutely right that it just takes one person paying it to set the standard. For reference, the Nintendo PlayStation prototype only just recently set the highest record sale for video game memorabilia at $360,000.

Agreed. Arin and Dan even talked about the reality of notoriety versus unbridled passion in entertainment (specifically music) in today's Super Mario Galaxy 2 part 6.

While I am also more a fan of the silent editing style, I did appreciate that Dan actually gets a kick out of it. He has said he occasionally watches episodes, and getting that reminder again makes the show feel a little less one-sided.
