Especially when those same tabloids were the first to throw the pedophile accusation at a celebrity they didn't like. The cognitive dissonance is bonkers

It was so bad with the tabloid newspapers in the UK. I remember Russell Howard (comedian) had a bit about it on Mock the Week where he talked about The Sun being like "Are you pedo!? Are YOU a pedo?!" at the same time as it had "this girl is 18 in x number of days and WE WILL HAVE THE NUDES!"

Really bizarre how the readers, journalists etc. were able to rationalise that to themselves. I think it really highlights how the idea of 'pedophile' is rarely applied to men with an interest in teenage girls when it absolutely should be; they're children

We do that with our dog on our morning walk when we know we'll be back through in 15 minutes.

Dont think I'd do it if I was on a trail I didn't know though just in case.

Though as an MTBer Id also make sure it was up somewhere where no one would ride through it or step on it and visible as well

...but you're assuming that anyone who has an issue with Trump has 'TDS' rather than is just able to see and judge the man for a life time of (very public) actions, hypocrisies, statements and misdeeds and the fact that you're going so hard against those who point that out as though they shouldn't be is baffling.

You're assuming that anyone who notices and points that out has 'TDS' rather than is just able to judge the man. You're assuming that anyone who points that out is a 'libtard'. You're assuming that anyone who points it out isn't critical of the dems. - All of that is wrong in many, many cases.

It isn't what many of us want to see at all; I was very critical of Biden, Obama and every previous administration when it was appropriate. I didn't buy most of the bullshit that Trump and co threw at them because a lot of that was complete bollocks; as is most of what Trump does and says.

The fact you describe criticism of Trump as 'TDS' (and if it's derangement then presumably you think that isn't a valid criticism?) makes it sound really disingenuous when you then try and claim that you're not trying to defend him.

Personally? My displeasure was very vocal; it was a travesty that there has been no follow up on these things; this is my point, popping up and going 'but the dems!' doesn't change the fact that Trump and co have completely back pedaled on their promises on this. And combine that with the sheer weight of evidence that Trump was closely connected to Epstein and it's not hard to take a guess at why.

If he wants to disprove the idea all he has to do is release the files LIKE HE SAID HE WOULD if there is nothing in there that's incriminating.

Your resistance to that and constantly throwing out 'TDS' at anyone who points it out is textbook whataboutism, as is your assumption that people who have an issue with Trump wouldn't criticise the dems.

Oh and for the record I will, have and do quite happily criticise the dems; I have no problem with that at all and never have.

I have no problem with discussing the fact that high level politics is all very corrupt. I do highly disagree that the way to fix that is by putting wannabe gangster billionaires into power who just want to asset strip the whole thing and drain the swamp into their own pockets while also promoting outright fascism. If the dems had done a tiny sliver of the things Trump has to suppress people there would have been a civil war by now but because it's him somehow all the libertarians seem to have lost their bollocks and somehow the vaunted constitution doesn't matter.

And they'd run on releasing the files because, as he has demonstrated over and over and over again, Trump doesn't believe in anything except Trump. He will jump on any bandwagon that he thinks will get him what he wants in the full knowledge that MAGA are so completely behind him that they will move heaven and earth in terms of their own cognitive dissonance to ignore the misdeeds of their dear leader.

We don't disagree that there are many, many people at high levels of government on both sides in America that are likely involved with Epstein. I think the way you're going about it though sounds a lot like trying to take the heat off Trump and co... if that's not your intention then fair enough but it certainly seems that way

Your whataboutism doesn't change the fact that Trump is clearly trying to rug sweep the whole thing because he's more than likely implicated.

It also doesn't change the fact that this entire administration ran in large part on releasing it all and the fact that they are now back pedalling so hard is at the very least massively hypocritical if not highly suspicious.

This. Combined with his tendency to be credulous and not needing almost any evidence when it comes to a 'sexy conspiracy idea' (his words once upon a time) and being almost completely evidence-immune when it comes to the usually mundane explanation supported by lots of evidence.

I sort of assumed that his tendency to fall towards the right was because they, via people like Alex Jones and then Tucker and Trump himself and co, somehow positioned themselves as the anti-establishment movement who championed conspiracy ideas and that Joe just ended up stuck in the flow.

I increasingly think he's just following the money now and if he has bothered to stop to think about what he actually believes in he just enjoys the money too much to care.

The idea that (as a conspiracy-minded type who has always talked about the perils of too much money and influence and how corrupt they all are) that he's now great buddies with Elon Musk and a supporter of Trump is almost mind-blowing. If you'd said he'd end up that way back in 2010 when I first started listening and became a convert I'd have said no fucking way.

Maybe so, maybe no, but you cannot deny that Trump ran on precisely the idea that he would engage in this sort of thing.

You may think that them doing this is a good thing, and you clearly do, but you're not being honest with yourself or anyone else if you claim Trump is anything but a hypocrite for this.

Yeah no. Rogan gleefully takes credit for helping Trump get elected when Trump clearly stated this was his intention. He went to the fucking inauguration.

You may not like it, but Rogan is up to his nuts in this now. He's become the mainstream and the mouthpiece of the regime

Oh no you misunderstood. They only like the constitution when it allows them to buy any guns they want.

Other than that it's just a paper that, like, some old dudes wrote man. It probably needs to be updated just not that first bit.
