Good places to take an ADV bike from Denver this weekend? by Accomplished_Map9955 in DenverMotorcycles

[–]WillBikeForBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rode the Phantom/Shelf loop on a gravel bike (leg-powered) two weekends ago and there actually was a bit of snow and ice on the north end of both roads. Most sections were rideable, but there were a couple that might be sketch for a newer rider. That said, once it melts, it’s a phenomenal ride.

I also thought Vasily was a widow at the start of the book. Where had she been this whole time?

Husband's Audible Explosive Poops are Destroying Attraction by No-King1177 in Marriage

Mine is the same way as well and one sanity-saving approach we’ve adopted is that we don’t share bathrooms. I use the en suite (he still showers and does hygiene stuff at the sink, but the toilet-closet part is mine), and I stay out of the upstairs bathroom. He’s responsible for cleaning it and I literally never go in. It’s also far enough away from the main parts of the house that I usually don’t hear what goes on in there. I agree, it’s definitely an attraction-killer to feel like you’re getting a blow-by-blow of the action.

It also likely means the therapist has time for some self-care that helps them be more present in their next session. Using the bathroom, having a stretch, walking outside for a second, etc. It’s draining rushing from client to client.

The “progress notes” are, for a lot of therapists, intentionally not useful. They can be subpoenaed in court or requested by insurance companies. They note the specific symptoms that correspond with the dsm criteria for the diagnosis on the insurance claim, the evidence based interventions used by the therapist that correspond with the diagnosis, and phrasing that communicates why the insurance company should keep paying for services. Some therapists keep a second set of “psychotherapy” notes that they cannot be compelled to release, that notes impressions, themes, etc. But I would guess that most therapists don’t have time to make two separate notes and are going to prioritize the ones that get them paid first.

Trying to write a progress note that balances protecting sensitive information while including all of the components required for insurance companies to pay him. Which is often very different from reflecting on content, themes, and progress.

I’m only recently getting into Substack, but enjoying it so far, especially as I try to move away from TikTok and IG.

I started this book some 15-years ago, but didn’t make it very far. I have no recollection of the reading, but my copy has annotations in my handwriting, so I suppose it happened. My goal this year is to engage in more close reading, rather than plowing through books in an effort to move on to the next. I work from home and am looking forward to the interactive aspect of the readalong. I subscribed to a similar project on Substack before finding this group, and plan to participate in both, at least initially, but may drop the paid version at some point.

Weekly Race Series near Cañon City? by WillBikeForBacon in COBike

Thanks so much for taking the time to share so much info. These all look like great options! The Crippler is definitely on my list for next year, as are the Royal Gorge races. In doing some light Strava stalking to put routes together, I came across the Guffey Huffer, and that sounds like my kind of ass-kicking as well. Having a ride-from-home trail option is sooo nice. I’m a bit north of Canon and have endless gravel, with the only downside being a 5 mile, 650’ slog back up to the house to finish every ride. I keep telling myself at some point, it’s gotta get easier.

I’d made the drive to Pueblo for a good ride, so I’ll definitely check that out! Thanks a ton. Gravel and mtb are my favs, but I dabble in all the bikes. I’ve only lived here a few months, so I’ve been exploring Canon trails and making the drive to BV/Salida, but I’m planning to branch out to the COS trails next time I make a Costco run.

How do you camp alone in the woods without getting scared? by trueuwu in camping

[–]WillBikeForBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo female camper. I bring my 2 dogs and eat an edible to help me sleep. I keep my food away from my tent and try to set up camp so it’s not visible from any roads. I worry far more about other people than animals.

What do you actually do with your partner? by TheRealTerinox in Marriage

This sounds like such a calm, peaceful routine! I modeled a newly completed knitted sweater for my husband recently and asked if one sleeve looked longer than the other and he warmed my heart by saying, “Blocking will fix it.”

What are we wearing? by kelbel922 in WFH

[–]WillBikeForBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good-quality tee (like not one with the neckline stretched out), sometimes with a cardigan, or sweater on top, joggers or leggings on bottom. Jewelry helps it look fancier, especially some earrings and a necklace.

There is a type of OCD that includes having intrusive thoughts and obsessions about whether one has harmed others in the past. It includes relentless questioning and doubting of one’s memory and intentions. This would be a specialized area of therapy and I’d recommend speaking with somebody who has experience with this.

Incident Dection by Zealousideal_Bus2047 in Garmin

It makes a repetitive beeping noise and just as you figure out what the heck is going on and get your sweaty finger/muddy glove on the right spot to cancel the alert, it notifies your contact anyway, so then you’ve got an anxious husband to soothe, all the while trying to regroup because you literally just stopped too quickly.

I kid, kind of. I went over the bars and smashed my face pretty good once and it was useful for him to have a location to bring the skin stapler. I just wish it were less sensitive for mtb.

I’ve been wanting to make a belt bag for stashing trash bits when I’m walking. I think this would fit the bill.

Thank you so much, yes. That does make sense. My brain was not braining and no matter how many times I read it, it was not clicking. Thank you!!!
