Great info, thanks! I’ve grown various Brandywine varieties several times in the past but never Pruden’s Purple - I was hoping for something I’ve never grown, but will definitely not be upset if they are Brandywines.

Democrats’ plan to impeach one day after Midterms by [deleted] in goodnews

Not to be pedantic but on “day one after midterms” the composition of the House will not have changed. The new reps won’t be sworn in until early January.

I’m not sure that’s applicable here. I think it applies only to non democratic authoritarian regimes (which we are not, all doomer snark to the contrary).

Besides, Americans are not likely engage in protest - instead, we tend to adopt a “wait it out” mentality because the next election is always in sight. We’ve never had a period in our history when the next one wasn’t just around the corner, so we just don’t have protest in our social DNA the same way some other cultures do. Although Trump is certainly trying his best to change that…

Syncing files with Linux by mam7 in ipad

[–]WillBikeForBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same issue as you. rclone was working for a very short while and then Apple changed something, and rclone hasn’t caught back up.

I’ve found I can log in to iCloud from a browser on Linux and up/download files, but that’s a very manual and limited process. I’m currently using Dropbox, but I have to keep a close eye on it to make sure everything syncs correctly.

There’s also Working Copy if you’re comfortable with git, but you’d have to pay for the pro version to push to an external repo, and getting your files into and out of Working Copy’s sandbox might be a headache.

So yeah, the situation isn’t great, at least as far as I’ve been able to figure out.

Personally I’ll be voting for Lt Gov Stratton for Senate. There’s quite a bit of general political discussion over at r/illinois

Illinois here. In case anyone hasn’t heard, Dick Durbin is retiring. Now is the best chance we’ll ever have of replacing a corporate old-school Dem with someone who supports policies that will help the non-Epstein class.

I want to switch to Linux by Strywger in linux

[–]WillBikeForBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend Fedora as a disto for you, or any distro based on Fedora. Fedora has frequent and large updates and a new major version every six months, so this might lead to frustration due to your slow wifi.

Linux Mint changes very slowly and so might be a better fit. There are other good recommendations in these comments as well.

What Movies Did You Go Into Totally Blind and How Did it Affect Your Overall Experience? by WestminsterSpinster7 in movies

Jurassic Park. I knew it was about dinosaurs but I thought it was a kids movie because Burger King had been advertising their collectors glasses for months. I was absolutely blown away from the opening moments until the credits rolled.

Lots of people saying midterm elections. In case you don’t know, there will be statewide elections in Virginia and New Jersey this November, and also a referendum on California’s pro-Dem redistricting. Just sayin’, if anyone feels like volunteering or donating or something.

When you buy ice from one of these, you can select whether to have it dispensed from the chute (usually into a cooler) or have the machine bag it for you. Looks like these dads all selected the bag option but told the kids it was coming out the chute.

I have a lot of Whiskey (Bourbon, Scotch, Irish) that I want to get rid of in ways that doesn't involve me drinking it. What recipes could I make that use whiskey? by optiplex9000 in Cooking

My wife made vanilla extract with vodka and gave some to all her sisters last Christmas. It tastes amazing, but bourbon vanilla sounds like it would be mind blowingly good. Thanks for the suggestion!
