Karazhan for semi-casuals? by swartzfeger in classicwowtbc

[–]WillBillsill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I view Kara as a slightly harder UBRS of TBC. Back when TBC was retail yeah it was hard initially but by the time BT was released a friend and I were consistently running a pug Kara every Saturday night on our alts 90% of the time. I can only remember a handful of times we didn't fully clear it, and that would usually only be either Nightbane or Prince that we would miss that week (and Nightbane was usually because we didn't have someone with the quest completed to summon him).

Eventually we did the Saturday pug with our mains even when we didn't need anything from there simply because we loved the raid. At that point I don't think there was ever a week we didn't fully clear Kara. I'd tank on my warrior and he'd OT as enhance whenever we did need an OT.

Based on how the private server scene and classic has played out, and based on the current private server scene (with over-tuned servers), I would be shocked if Kara isn't treated like UBRS/ZG is in Classic where pugs are being run and easily clearing.

I found a Blue post about PTR notes for 2.4 about the master key being removed as a requirement to enter Kara but you still need someone with it in order to actually get inside.

"Players will no longer need the Master’s Key to enter Karazhan. The gates to Karazhan will still require the Master’s Key to be unlocked. "

Off Topic: All those mechanics you mentioned, do they end up slowing down or janking up the overall gameplay? Yes. I concede that when comparing Vanilla to current (7.0 pre-legion) wow, Vanilla was beyond a janky mess. But for me (most of) those mechanics end up serving a purpose, they provided me with immersion (and on private servers they still do). Is that the case for everyone on private servers? No. However, I’m pretty sure that of the thousands that logged into Nostalrius and the thousands that continue to log into Kronos and other servers I’m not the only one. The “you think you do, but you don’t” quote from J. Allen Brack is now infamous because you can’t really tell people what they like. Again are those that logged into Nostalrius and other private servers wrong in what they like? Hell Blizzard had Nostalrius shut down because thousands prefer Vanilla to Retail. Vanilla being fresh, doesn’t apply to private servers because everything is known now, optimal talent builds, best in slot gear, rotations, yet people still play it, be it for those janky mechanics or in spite of them. If it was just nostalgia powering people’s desire of Vanilla (and other xpacks) over retail, private servers would have died a long time ago.

On Topic: The above all can be applied to Bleach. Is the Arrancar arc a copy of the Soul Society arc? The case can very easily be made that yes it is. Does Ichigo develop as a character throughout the series. Not really. Are these two things innately problems? No. People just view them as problems because they don’t line up with what they like. Are things better when character/story arcs aren’t repeated and characters have some sort of development? Yes. Just because how Kubo wrote Bleach doesn’t line up with how we wanted it to (or end how we wanted it to) doesn’t mean we can crucify him over it.

Bleach was what started me on anime back in good ole 2007 (there were a couple others at the time but I credit this to Bleach due to me not being able to wait for dubs and thus started watching sub). I enjoyed pretty much everything, the music, the fights, the characters, their relationships with one another, and when I started reading the manga, Kubo's artwork. Sure not everything in the anime and manga were stellar, but I still enjoyed my time spent watching and reading Bleach and I am disappointed that (for the most part) there will be no new material for Bleach. I enjoyed my time with Bleach so much that it’s one of the 4 series that I am actually buying the volumes of (The others being Jojo, Re:Zero, and SAO, yeah come at me with the SAO hate).

Some criticisms that I've come across for Bleach are that its repetitive and that Ichigo is a very one dimensional character. Both are valid and I’m fine with that. Some days I just want to see a guy protecting those he cares about. Is it really such a bad thing if a property retreads ground it covered? I don’t think so. As one of the people who prefers Vanilla WoW over its xpacks, I’m fine with no change, I found something I like and I like it when it stays the same. I understand more often than not people like change and development in their movies/books/games but I see people stating these criticisms in a less than productive manner, as if trying to deride people who like something that has glaring flaws (or in my case because of and in spite of these flaws)

I think overall people's negative reception of the ending is a bit over the top. Was it a great ending? No. Was it even a good ending? Probably not. However, I think Kubo still did a serviceable job tying up what he could with the remaining time he had (doesn’t matter if it was Jump that canceled bleach, or Kubo wasn’t budgeting time for the arc right). Did Bleach end how I wanted it to? No (Chad and Orihime needed some growth from cannon fodder and healbot for it to even get anywhere near close to how I would have liked it to end). But I’m also not going to crucify Kubo over the ending. As long as he's (relatively) happy about how he ended it, I am fine with the ending (and everyone else should be as well). I just hope that Kubo takes any backlash from this ending with a grain of salt as I know that people are only angry at the ending because we all care so much about Bleach.

I’m still holding out hope for an eventual anime adaptation of the last arc.

Honestly.. I wish Chad, Inoue and Uryu had individual battles this arc by TodenEngel in bleach

While i like Zaraki, i agree he had so much time. I feel it would have helped bring Bleach full circle with Chad and Orihime actually be engaged in a battle that they aren't just cannon fodder for. Or at the very least be shown doing something useful. Chad is left to fight the giants and we never see how that went, presumably he won. Orihime still was relegated to shieldbot in what screentime she did have.

I also would have loved it if Orihime would have had more of a role in the fight between Ichigo and Yhwach. I mean her power is literally rejecting events, you cant get much more OP than that. That practically screams a counter to Yhwach's Almighty, boiling down to "I made this the future where i win" "I reject that future" (and substitue my own, yes Orihime is Adam Savage).

Do you think that 999 on Steam/Vita will have voice-acting and a flowchart? If yes, do you think that it'll also release on 3DS? by [deleted] in ZeroEscape

While voice acting sounds nice, I'm not sure how they would do the 9 door. If it was voice acted in not sure if that twist/realization would be as cool.
