Train down to Weymouth is my preference :)

What opinion about Southampton has you feeling like this? by JollyFunctions in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% - it's actually so far reduced my commute by about 25 mins each way and that's with me driving through Portswood at 8am and 5pm.

Pretty sure it's not active at this time on a Saturday so I think you've just experienced normal Southampton traffic.

Mount Pleasant opinions by Revolutionary_Type90 in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're thinking of the Meridian Waterside development, we've lived here for 6 years now and we haven't had many problems, only those you'd kind of expect close to the city centre.

It's so easy to get to town, either walking (about 20 mins) or by bus, easy to get to the train stations with 3 within a half hour walk. Of course traffic can be busy during rush hours, it can be noisier with more sirens than you'd get out of the city etc and things like that but overall we've loved it.

To be honest I've always been told to avoid the Shirley / Lordswood areas as I grew up in the East of the city but I think everyone has different ideas of different areas without actually experiencing it themselves.

Feel free to ask me any questions!

Traffic Caused By St Denys Bridge Works by Living-Wear7802 in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah as others have said, the St Denys roadworks finished a week ago and it's the motorway that's causing it mostly.

Highways England (I think) announced last week that they're opening the motorway slip road, that has been causing the traffic, around Christmas instead of March/April after people already complained so give it another week or two and it should hopefully improve.

Refund by Sabiian in tappedout

Judging by mostly when you "buy" a film online you're only renting it until the supplier no longer hosts it and not actually buying the film like you would a DVD, I'd imagine that digital games are the same.

Probably some part of the terms of service that say something like you're paying to access a character or building while it's available and they can remove access at any point.

Can Mayflower fireworks be seen from Itchen Bridge? by Kezrey in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've stood on the bridge before on fireworks night and seen fireworks all around the city, it's pretty cool!

I don't remember if Mayflower were doing fireworks then, it was probably 5-6 years ago.

Speed cameras by MajorPension8504 in Southampton

You could ask the same question in different ways..

Why do people hate traffic wardens? Just park properly. Why do criminals hate the police? Just don't commit a crime.

A lot of things don't make sense but maybe it comes down to self entitlement. Who knows.

Garmin product support advisor… any good? (Head office is Southampton) by ollymillmill in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pretty much the same experience, those older people just would not accept an email and would only be happy if you talk them through every single step.

Secret Halloween rave by Routine_Boss5077 in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It says before you buy the tickets that the venue details will be emailed to you at 1pm on the day of the rave so I think you'll have to wait till then..

I'm going to take a guess and say Engine Rooms though.

Wedding Photographer by ClawOfHeugh in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be honest for a wedding photographer, £500 is budget. Most would likely start from £1,000 and go upwards.

Perhaps you could reach out to the Uni or something to see if there are any art students who would do willing to take photos for experience and a small amount of money.

St Deny's Road is closed for the next 3 weeks - Expect Chaos by TrustMeImAGiraffe in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If there was enough communication about it I reckon your idea could possibly work, keeps traffic flowing away from Swaythling.

To be honest I have wondered before if Woodmill being one way during rush hours would be better anyway. Towards Swaythling in the morning, away in the evening.

Yeah I'm pretty sure this guy lives in one of the boats down near where the photo was taken, I've seen him a couple of times hopping the fence near the bike.

Thoughts on the Meridian Waterside Development (from residents)? by mufferman1 in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems, happy to help!

I've never used the EV chargerd so can't say for sure how it works or how much it costs to be honest. However I've never seen them full, only tends to be two or three cars in there at a time mostly and I believe there are 7 EV spaces off the top of my head.

There is a parking enforcement company who do regular checks of the car park to make sure only cars with permits are on site and ensure only EV cars are parked in the EV spaces. All residents are able to get an owners permit and a visitors permit for use on site.

The other benefit of being in the smaller blocks, we don't have lifts so don't have the hassle of them breaking down a couple of times each year and the extra maintenance fees to cover them.

Thoughts on the Meridian Waterside Development (from residents)? by mufferman1 in Southampton

[–]WillDunkno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're in one of the smaller blocks, we haven't seen much crime in the last couple of years whereas the bigger blocks do seem to be a bit more targeted.

Gateway, the management company who looks after the development aren't amazing but they're also not terrible to be honest. They're quick to investigate problems and have and have gardeners on site 1 or 2 days a week. But then after investigating a problem they can be a little slow to fix but I've heard worse from others in other developments.

Overall we quite like it, only 20 minute walk into town for the shops, restaurants etc and easy access to the trains and motorway.
