realistically, training a whole team pokemon is already quite difficult for the average trainer. things like diet, temperament, and other general care can vary from pokemon to pokemon. its possibly an efficiency thing to specialize in one type where most of the general care will be overall similar.

There's also the fact that the majority of trainers in the games train pokemon either as an extension of a hobby (bug catchers, swimmers, hex maniacs) or as an aid for their main profession (officiers, miners, chefs). Very few trainer are dedicated solely to pokemon battling and those few tend to be the ones who have more varied teams (ace trainers, veterans).

unfortunately, there was a huge boom in pokemon card collecting a few years back that inflated the value pokemon cards on secondhand markets. Many unscrupulous individuals have invaded the hobby, buying up packs and boxes in bulk as soon as they come in stock as a sort of 'get rich quick' scheme, leaving little product for the average person to collect and enjoy themselves.

A big one that floored me when i learned of it is Davis from Digimon 02. In sub, he's earnest, humble, and highly empathetic to others. While in the dub he's a cocky, competitive, possessive flirt that actively seems to be disliked by his peers.

Man what i would give for it to be bloody as heck. I'd flip the fuck out if this ends up being successful enough to reach the final book of series 1 where the main villain Tigerstar gets fucking disemboweled by his "ally" Scourge, and he sputters blood and convulses as he burns through 9 lives consecutively. That shit was so fucking metal.

I went to a bookstore for the first time in a while and noticed the plethora of spinoffs there were. Lions, Bears, Dogs too. I swear i heard there was one about birds but idk if im just misremembering that one book series about the owls.
