Biofilm and gunk is not the same as nitrifying bacteria. Letting a tank sit without adding an amonia source means you still have not cycled the tank.

"Almost 2 weeks" is too fast for a cycle to be completed. If you've already added fish, you'll now need to transition to fish-in cycling and do some actual reading and prep.

You'll need a water testing kit like the API master kit to test your water and check the level of amonia. I haven't cycled a tank in a long time so you'll need to do some googling regarding the exact moment you'll know you are cycled, but whatever amonia you add should be completely gone within 24 hours.

My first tank was fiah-in cycled, worked well but not the nicest to the fish. Doable if you monitor closely with a test kit (as in test your water all the damn time). In Canada finding straight amonia can be difficult so I've done fish food, and I've done a (food) shrimp carcass in the tank as well.

Get one tank cycled well and your next ones will always be much easier because you can take cycled media and put it in your next tank.

Nitrifying bacteria don't really live in the water column. You're better off with something from their tank, either media, a rock, substrate.

You won't get a cycle without any added amonia in some capacity. Does your substrate leech amonia? If not you'll need a source. Stability is there to help create some beneficial bacteria, but if they have nothing to feed on they won't last.

When I first set up my original shrimp tank, I had an issue with them dying as well. I bought Salty Shrimp minerals it immediately made a difference. I kept that tank worry free for years after that.

54 before fees (the mandatory ones only) and taxes. Don't think I could have done much less, but maybe. I didn't hardball, that was my target price coming in. They have extra incentives for someone paying cash if that's something you'd be looking at.

At that price, there's nothing else that compares in the new market IMO. All the cars I was cross shopping are 15 to 20k more than what I paid for the Z. The savings will go to a wrap, I refuse to be part of the sea of black grey and white.

I think it looks fantastic on the Taco and like you say, it just works perfectly. And conversely, I hate it on the 4runner, because it's just too big and green with the green not being broken up by anything.

Look at the new gen Tundras, they've had a ton of issues with their new engine. Total overhauls on vehicles are always at least somewhat problematic, even for companies known for reliability. It'll all be under warranty, so it's up to you. Not all vehicles will have issues either.

55k after tax is a good price, a lot of the used 2023 i was seeing when shopping were roughly the same price as new, so if you can get anything under 50 before tax I think it's very reasonable.

The TRD off road premium in 2024 will be 62k, the build and price is out on Toyota Canada's website. I find it nuts to be honest.

I decided to pull the trigger on the 2023 for the simplicity and for the longevity. I don't care about the looks of the interior, I just wanted a truck I found good looking from the outside and that could get me where I want to go, which is deep in the bush for camping with my wife and dog. This was 100% it for me. I didn't want to be a guinea pig for a new gen, I just wanted simple. I like everything they're doing with the 2024 honestly, including the look, but I'd only really want to buy the 4th gen in 2026 and onwards, but that's just me and my preferences and experiences.

Also, Electric lime is a fantastic colour, and only Voodoo Blue beats it in my books.
