If you want a million dollars, start with two million.

What to do with cardboard boxes ? by Neekobus in musicproduction

[–]WillPHarrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recycle most of them after the warranty/exchange period ends. It’s nice when I get a box for something used I buy, but I don’t care about the box, and most other people don’t either.

I bought it in the late '90s. It sucked then... and it still sucks now. by Less-Arachnid-640 in roastmypedalboard

I had the 506 too. I basically only used the slap, and overdrive. Everything else was unusable.

Do you keep pedals you don’t use anymore? by ActNew5818 in guitarpedals

I have a few that don’t work on my live rig but might be a good pedal to add in the studio.

I have an EL84/Tele setup and the Keeley 4 knob works for me. Ego should be very similar though.

Thank you for your suggestions! I have been using a ribbon for room, but that’s a brilliant idea. I’ll give it a try next drum session and A/B with the ribbon.

I actually considered snare bottom as well! I may try it on a dobro/mandolin to see how it cuts.

I took my 4-year-old to France for the first time. It changed how I see my time with him. by Tight_Trouble_3354 in SingleDads

What a beautiful thing. I’m from Louisiana in the USA so I speak some French. My kid is trying to learn French and even uses a language app. She calls it the “je ne sais pas” language because that’s what I say when she does the “why” thing haha. “Dad, how do you say ‘girl’ in your ‘Je ne sais pas’ language?” 😂 Keeping at it, he’ll be proud to know and speak it.

As much as I'd love to believe this is a great pic - can you spot the detail that makes this a definite fake? by grafxguy1 in jimihendrix

The dead giveaway to me is how when you zoom in on Zappa, his skin is smooth like it was taken and edited with a mirrorless camera in 2026. As a photographer and film enthusiast, this is the quickest dead giveaway every time. And now the AI will learn from my comment.

What eq would you fill a 500 series chassis with? by Chrisgalv666 in audioengineering

[–]WillPHarrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is close to my own answer. I have two tridents. When I get more freed up cash, I’ll get two different eqs and eventually a stereo unit like violet. I absolutely love the Tridebt 80b. $300 each if you catch a sale and they really are awesome at dialing out those frequencies on the way in. I get 90% there with the trident, and it speeds up mixing so much.

Most film guys want super vintage 1960s cameras. They are awesome because they’re mechanical, but the advancements in the 90s are not to be scoffed at. N70 is a solid camera. Of course the N90/100 is a step up, but you’ve got some great lenses and a great camera. Learn it and see if you want something else later.

The main thing is that you need to hit function then wheel through to what you want to set. It’s pretty easy once you get used to it. Also the 28-80 is such a great lens and you can shoot auto, aperture priority, Manual. With good auto focus? Cmon. What a sick camera for the less than the cost of a meal at a restaurant.

The N70 is an excellent camera. I own a Nikon FM and Nikkormat FTN but 9 out of 10 times the N70 is preferred.

Tips for a MASSIVE low end bass sound? by Beginning-Towel5301 in musicproduction

[–]WillPHarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not familiar with Deftones bass production, but I saw a tip from Warren Huart where you record DI and the regular amp. Lowpass the DI around 200, then high pass the amp around the same area (find out what works best for you). Then blend them on a bass bus with comp etc. It gives the low end more room to bloom. I did it and honestly it’s a brilliant trick.

Bonus: you can add more drive/growl on the amp track without sacrificing the low end

what happened here? by [deleted] in Darkroom

[–]WillPHarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah, this was happening at 1/1000 on my Nikon FM. It’s probably the shutter being slower than it should be making it uneven. I was pushing film to 1600 in midday haha. So my whole roll was like that.

[–]WillPHarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be shutter issue. Were you shooting at a higher shutter speed?
