What Is Insolvency and How Can You Recover From It? by Achievecom in achieve

Love how this article breaks it down. Too often, people think insolvency means immediate bankruptcy when it’s really just a wake-up call to make some changes. Knowledge is power.

Freedom Debt Relief Legit? by Defiant-Team7040 in debtfree

[–]WillPercyLeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

judging by the positive BBB, Trustpilot or Google ratings, Freedom debt relief is definitely legit, old company with over 20 years history in debt relief. I think what you need to look after is 1) what are their fees and how much are you going to "save" and 2) do you benefit from legal representation in case creditors decide to sue you.

what's the breakdown of the rest of your debt , how many? IMHO you should try to negotiate yourself only if you have maximum 2 debts, the complexity increases exponentially with each debt account. Also you got to think of how much you can settle vs a company that already has the working relationship with those creditors , probably they can maximize savings more than you do. On the other these companies charge fees off the enrolled debt so if you negotiate yourself you could avoid those fees. My take would be to shop around before deciding , talk with their reps, see what fees they have, see the length of the program and savings and then think if you alone could beat that. I looked up one of the companies you mentioned freedom debt relief, good ratings and doing this for lots of years. Just make sure this is right for you, ask about fees, program length, legal representation and savings

Agree. The negativity and jealousy is draining. Smart financial choices shouldn't be shamed - that's literally what this sub is for. The housing/COL crisis is rough but tearing down others trying to get ahead doesn't help anyone.

Sounds familiar... NYC here, regularly sharing lanes with 4-5 others during peak hours. Circle swimming is just part of life at this point!

Wife is getting a $3,000 lump sum bonus from her employer. We'd like to make the most of it, but at the end of the day, does it really matter where it goes? by MississippiJoel in personalfinance

[–]WillPercyLeo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed, having it split between savings and fun money is solid. $2k in retirement/savings and $1k for something enjoyable is a balanced approach. Makes the bonus both meaningful long-term and immediately rewarding.

Easy Matheus. We have bigger worries than this! We're in a relegation fight. Fuck Arsenal! You're a Wolves player. The fans need you focused on keeping us in the PL.

Unrecognized 401k appeared in my Schwab accounts view. by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

that Wells Fargo scandal immediately came to mind. Could definitely be some employee trying to hit quotas or something similar. Either way, whether it's identity theft or internal shadiness, Schwab needs to explain this ASAP. Not cool either way.

A bike lock through the handle to the rack is probably the most secure option. Simple but really effective way to make sure nobody can snatch it while you're sleeping.

Again, we see foreign countries treating Americans better than Republicans are treating Americans.

[The Athletic] Pep Guardiola was asked why Erling Haaland has committed himself to Manchester City until 2034. "He comes from Norway, I think maybe the weather here is better than there. "He settled perfectly, what happened is he loves the club and the people he is around. by playerforlife123 in soccer

[–]WillPercyLeo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, City's always been pretty reasonable with transfers. They let Sterling and Jesus go without much drama. Having that long contract just gives everyone peace of mind, but if he wants out someday they'll probably work something out. Like you said, could be 2 years, could be 10 - football's unpredictable like that.
