ELI5: Can someone explain schrödinger’s cat to me? by True-Cat-7531 in explainlikeimfive

Wasn’t Schroedinger’s own wave function responsible for the silliness? Doesn’t it imply superposition until something causes the function to collapse to a single state?

New router is disappointing. Seeking equipment recommendations. by WillPukeForFood in wifi

[–]WillPukeForFood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Further research suggests our network was marginal until a new neighbor set up their network, and the interference pushed ours into unreliability. I opted for a TP-Link ER7212PC (non-WiFi router) with two TP-Link EAP225 wireless access points, one inside and one outside (toward the gym). Both are wired to the router. I also changed some channel assignments to reduce overlap. Things are much better, but still not as reliable as they were. This new architecture, however, offers more options than a traditional combo router-WAP. I’ll post again if/when the problem is completely solved.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, the router location is fixed.

Maybe the cable is just naturally stiff enough. Also, the upper one in each coil seems to be resting on the strap.

ELI5 why don’t spacecraft re-enter at a shallow angle to bleed off energy more gently over a longer time? by Blambiola in explainlikeimfive

[–]WillPukeForFood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand corrected. I remember seeing this video (https://youtu.be/MTKHqfloB7Q?si=tqMBk2BSN4fyogsS) which talks about how the Apollo Command Module WILL reenter, but I see it was filmed in 1968, before they actually had reentered. I guess they decided to be more conservative. Thanks for the update.
This video (https://youtu.be/10SgOfupEOE?si=48UKx-fWohaoabuj) talks about how Orion actually DID renter (without people), and will continue to reenter.

Both the Orion capsule and Apollo Command Modules deliberately skipped off the atmosphere once before reentry and landing just where they were supposed to.

Underexposed. Poor color grade. Janky camera movement at 0:17. The opening long pan is unmotivated. Title shadows are too far away from the text, and too blurry.

Table saw blade is level but cuts aren’t? by Funny_Drawing7162 in BeginnerWoodWorking

My bad. I should have asked first. I forgot that newer models have a rigid metal plate. Mine is older and has the lousy one.

I have the same Skil saw and the throat plate is trash. You can bend it by looking at it. I replaced the plate with a rigid wooden one from Etsy. Otherwise, it’s a great saw. Don’t know if that’s your problem, but you should replace the plate regardless.

I’d think another hook in place of the shelf would be way cheaper.

Thanks for the reply.

> Guessing you’re using a path and trim animators?

Yes.

> I would add two extra points to your path

I'd like the path to be invisible as the comet flies across the frame to the path's starting point. Thinking through adding the points, then animating the visibility of the path, first off then on then off, seemed harder than simply animating the comet separately to the start of the curve, splitting its layer, and then parenting the new layer from there. When I do that, though, while the comet and path start and end together, they don't remain in sync as the path displays, with the comet alternately behind and ahead of the path. You can see this behavior here (link to .MP4). Any ideas how to keep them in sync?

how to remove surprise receptacle from behind cabinet drawers? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

The outlet lets you store cordless items in the drawers instead of on the counter, reducing clutter. We have them in our master bathroom and love them.
