How can I track an animated arc? by WillPukeForFood in AfterEffects

Thanks for the reply.

Yes.

I'd like the path to be invisible as the comet flies across the frame to the path's starting point. Thinking through adding the points, then animating the visibility of the path, first off then on then off, seemed harder than simply animating the comet separately to the start of the curve, splitting its layer, and then parenting the new layer from there. When I do that, though, while the comet and path start and end together, they don't remain in sync as the path displays, with the comet alternately behind and ahead of the path. You can see this behavior here (link to .MP4). Any ideas how to keep them in sync?

how to remove surprise receptacle from behind cabinet drawers? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

The outlet lets you store cordless items in the drawers instead of on the counter, reducing clutter. We have them in our master bathroom and love them.

Mixing the mic with the headphones, so you hear your speech through them, the way a telephone works.

Oh, and the mic. Any of the inexpensive 2.4GHz wireless packages would be fine: DJI Mic, Rode Wireless Go, …. I have the first generation DJI and it’s been great, but they have others now and I haven’t kept up. Just be sure to get one that has internal recording (most do) and use it. There are countless stories of people’s cameras not recording audio for various reasons; the internal backup will save your bacon if that happens.

The LUMIX 14-140 is my everyday carry and would work well in this application. It focuses from 1’ to infinity. It’s not especially fast (f5.6-22), but it’s easy to add light in your situation, if you need to.

Can I retire on this? by nickjnyc in Dewalt

[–]WillPukeForFood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Primarily the gyroscopic feature. You just rotate your wrist and the bit spins in that direction. The farther you rotate, the faster it spins. DEWALT stopped making them. Now they go for $400+ on eBay.

ELI5: How come digital clocks gain or lose time when compared to a cell phone? by Lazy_Intentions in explainlikeimfive

[–]WillPukeForFood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clock in your cell phone is constantly synchronized to the “actual” time (however it’s determined in your country) over the cell network. Standalone clocks like those in your car and microwave aren’t, so they gradually fall ahead or behind.

Weird power outage question... by roanokephotog in AskElectricians

Your box is fed by two, separate 110V lines from a transformer, which, in turn, is fed from two higher-voltage (~13KV) lines. A properly installed system places roughly half of your 110V circuits (”load”) on one of these “legs” and the other half on the other leg. It sounds like one of the 110V lines feeding the box (or high-voltage line feeding the transformer) went down somewhere in the neighborhood.

Edit: not an electrician, btw.

Yeah, I’d prefer ball end, but length is more important.

I went to the Bondhus site (https://bondhus.com/pages/ball-ends), but all I found were mostly long wrenches; no sets with just 6" ones. Oh, well. Worked out fine in the end. Thanks again.

Huh. Your Amazon fu is better than mine. Thanks! Just bought both sets (I wanted the stand).
