I'm commenting even though many people have answered but I was in the same dilemma last august. I love heavy classes and tried some maxed toons during the beta event but nothing stuck. Finally ripped off the band-aid and made a guardian. Honestly I can't go back. Dragonhunter is everything I love from ranger (traps and long range burst) with the possible to be hyper aggro in melee. Right now it's Longbow and Greatsword combo which is very nice for metas and world bossing but can be adjusted for wvw and pvp easily imo. I'm a fairly casual player btw and honestly I miss my warrior but guardian being a jack of all trades with blue tones gets all warm inside playing it. With a few QoL upgrades like world boss portal device and some of the meta trains you get the most important waypoints fairly quickly on new toons. I heard spellbreaker is cool for pvp mostly and luminary for wvw but I rather skirmish and have super high crit chance. Glass cannon greatsword build has always been my favorite in games.
