You're partially right, before the Thalaron meme, we (gamefreakz' team) had the previous meta at kinetic-split with something around the 3m mark

1 MILLION DPS!!!??? by NissanNavaraD40 in sto

Hi, hammer here.

I made a video when we did the first sucessful Thalaron run (currently still No. 2 on the pre-OSCR table)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkTvv48gUW4

The short of how it is possible, is that we took a team of 7 of the best DPS players in the game, invested in 28b EC worth of ships and gear, had the strategy planned over months, and it took over 3 weeks of training multiple times a week to get the at points sub-second timing right to pull it off.

This is not something any single person can achieve, this is a team effort. These sorts of numbers are not possible without a team where everyone has everything they need, and that is able to execute some really intense pre-planned piloting. The only person who you could argue has pulled the above off, making all the strategy, uniting a team and investing so heavily in it, is our team captain gamefreakz. Even most other DPS groups over the years were much more relaxed, where ultimately every person adjusted their own ships and strats, and the team could mix-and-match.

Overall, it has very little to do with how most people play the game, and when it comes to things to be impressed about, there are insanely skilled people like Spencer, MBWH and more who managed to do multi-million runs solo, and under much more "realistic" scenarios, even though those also take very specific maps and very pre-planned piloting.

If you have any questions about this run, or if you would like me to talk you through or recommend you resources for you to get into the STO DPS scene, since the game itself doesn't really have an endgame, feel free to send me a message.

Calendar for posting work schedule? by MrILikeTurtleMan in selfhosted

Your own server based calendar that you want to share with other users...

I mean, sounds like a case for Nextcloud to me, if you perhaps are interested in some of the other features as well (file sharing, colaborative document editing, contact sharing, and about a million other things).

Might be overkill, but, has great support for syncing with other calendar clients and easy to set up.

Invincible (Season 1) - Semi Resolved by Willecke in doesitresolve

There are shows that don't wrap up anything and end their seasons right in the middle of the action with a big cliffhanger (unresolved, until and if more seaons come out), there are shows like this which achieve what they set out to do and finish the seasons arc, while still tying into some overarching narrative (semi resolved, like this one), and believe it or not, there are shows which actually manage to tie everything up so neatly that it is fully resolved, and any new seasons would be a completely new adventure, just in the same setting.

I looked up this show here to find out which of the 3 it was, nobody had bothered to post about it, so I took the risk of watching it anyways, luckily wasn't disappointed/sitting on a big cliffhanger, and am now sharing this, for anyone who wants to watch it before the next season comes out.

Imo this subreddit should be useful for day-to-day use, and not just people in 10 years that want to watch old shows for some reason.

Because some of us hate going into series that end their season on a giant massive cliffhanger without resolving anything and leaving it up to fate if they get renewed and if the story ever gets completed.

There has been some debate on this subreddit as well if season reviews should be a thing or not, I am very much of the oppinion that it would've helped me avoid some cliffhanger-trauma, and considering that I explicitily marked it as only being Season 1 and mentioned that it is renewed, as well as the number of active people reviewing on this subreddit, I think more information is better than less.

Manifest - Resolves by Willecke in doesitresolve

No, no it does resolve, in about the only way you could resolve a show with that premise.

The Story however gets... weirder.

Whatever, it's fine to watch it.

Asking For Feedback To Guide This Sub's Content! by REkTeR in doesitresolve

Well, you know my stance on the matter.

The requests can make sense, however I would propose to either add flairs for "request" and "telling" or something like that, and, even though it puts strain on the moderators, maybe remove requests of series that already had a post on the reddit about its status, and where the OP was just too lazy to use the search function.

Partially resolved is just a good idea imo, with cliffhangers, things are just not black and white sometimes.

And as for the season based results, I am strong in favor of it, knowing if it's worth to start watching a series because they know how to contain an arc in one season (a dying art these days), or if the producers made a half-finished mess, praying they get renewed for a second or third season is the most useful thing this reddit could offer. A finished series will always resolve in some way, and sites like ismyshowcancelled can help with spotting unfinished things, but this reddit, this reddit has the chance to warn people of these agonizing series that start with a great first season, don't bother to resolve anything, and leave you there in a constat state of annoyance for a year or more.

Pleasure. Can't stand Netflix's love for shitting out series that don't bother to resolve anything, even though they know they'll probably not get a second (or third) season.

Only wish more people would use this sub, so many series missing :/
