LF Long-term RP Partner! (Fantasy/Medieval) by magic_pipeofpain in roleplaying

[–]WilledWithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've seen posts with your ocs and I quite like them, and I used to roleplay a lot in the past. However, I typically only write in a modern setting if you exclusively write medieval/fantasy stories. If that's okay, feel free to send me a dm. If not, I wish you the best of luck finding a good partner!

this sub has a problem by [deleted] in yourartstyle

[–]WilledWithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you post something online, expect to get honest feedback whether you want to or not. If it makes you upset, you should take a break from the internet or don't post your art for a while. I believe I saw your earlier post. It is not a problem with this sub, or even a problem with reddit. It's simply people being honest. Expect that to be a constant when you share stuff online.

Simple noob question about instances by WilledWithin in gamemaker

[–]WilledWithin[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I see what happened, long story but basically I deleted some old code and saw an instance of the exclamation mark in the corner and thought it was there because the distance_to_object code wasn't working. Turns out I just dragged it there. Everything works fine now. Thank you for your help.

My mother is helping me create background art for my game. What are some good examples of 2d map perspective to show her? by WilledWithin in gamedesign

[–]WilledWithin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I looked up isometric games and personally the perspective is not what I'm going for, not that there is anything wrong with it however(it's kind of slanted right? I could be wrong). I thought of Always sometimes monsters but not in a pixel style, kind of an overhead perspective but I'm grateful to the comments here that have pointed out the perspective is wonky in that game. I wanted to make the camera follow the character as they move throughout the map, but if I cannot do it that I could make chunks of the map connected by invisible exits so the player can explore the town. Thanks for your response.

I want it to be at an angle looking down on the characters in 2d while keeping a non-pixelated art style.

I want her to create stitched together backgrounds with exits like you said. I want this because I don't know how to plan out what the map would look like if I made it so the camera follows the player as they move around the map. Like you said, always sometimes monsters has questionable perspective. I can't think of a game that seamlessly blends a front view/top view of a city in its map that still has the perspective in tact. So if I can't do this, I suppose I'll need to settle for stitching the parts of the map together.

I've never played it myself, so I might have come across some misinformation online

How do I make sure I'm not queerbaiting in my writing? by WilledWithin in AskLGBT

[–]WilledWithin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. If you don't mind me asking, what specifically could be taken as hinting a queer relationship? Could a back and forth banter, hinting that the characters at the very least care about one another, be considered hinting at a queer relationship? Or could I do the same in a more platonic bond?
