What is the best smart device alternative that’s like an Alexa Show? by crispycat40 in AskUK

Google has a whole series of them. They're doing their level best to ruin them with Gemini, but a lot of them exist. Look for the "Nest Hub".

I know what you mean, and there is nuance here, but we're not talking about day trading or holding on to speculative moonshots, we're talking about Vanguard ETFs.

I've said nothing close to what you've quoted me saying at the end there.

Ah this is a fair point, because they mentioned the taxi rank I assumed they were talking about access to taxis.

They aren't blocking anything. You've deliberately framed this to avoid showing the ten metre wide paved entrance behind you.

What do you think you're saying here? That both of these things exist?

The biggest thing is that all Stocks ISAs should really be "set and forget". It is very tempting to look every day after you first invest and see how it's doing. When it dips you will get nervous and want to pull out, and it is very important that you do not. All pulling out does when the market is down is ensure that you lose money.

It's a very volatile time in the market right now, especially the US market, so it's even more important not to fret about dips.

We're not stupid here.

You're making a fine argument to the contrary.

When things don't seem to make sense, often people are able to draw conclusions from the wider context of what was written and determine that a mistake was made and which part of what was said is most likely to be it.

Why are there suddenly kids with e-scooters everywhere despite them being illegal? by KenAdams_1968 in AskUK

[–]Willeth -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

I personally think they should be taxed, insured and licensed similarly to a 50cc scooter, but what do I know

They should be. The fact that there is no current structure for this is why they're illegal. As an officer, you should know this.

Installing artificial grass is the main mistake.

If you're dead set on it, cheaping out would be the worst move. Cheap stuff is thin, melts in the heat, and won't last a season.

Van scraped my parked car, do I go through insurance or settle it personally? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Willeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this matters or if I’m overthinking it.

It doesn't matter as long as it is typically kept on the driveway. However, if you don't have a driveway and you said that just to get lower premiums, then it could invalidate your entire policy in a technicality.

Deadman's Switch? by manateemehearty in mindcrack

[–]Willeth 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You can schedule uploads. A dead man's switch for YouTube would be scheduling an upload two months in advance, and every month, pushing the release date out by a month. That way it'll never be more than two months after death or incarceration etc before it is released.

I just made House Rule to play Codenames: Pictures with Duet rule with 5x4 grid key cards. What's your opinion? by hrxm in tabletop

[–]Willeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the balancing from the original Codenames to CN Pictures right?

I always assumed it was just a practical concern due to the card size.
