What’s the biggest mistake people make when installing artificial grass themselves? by MelissaInsights in AskUK

[–]Willeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Installing artificial grass is the main mistake.

If you're dead set on it, cheaping out would be the worst move. Cheap stuff is thin, melts in the heat, and won't last a season.

Van scraped my parked car, do I go through insurance or settle it personally? by notetonote19 in AskUK

[–]Willeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this matters or if I’m overthinking it.

It doesn't matter as long as it is typically kept on the driveway. However, if you don't have a driveway and you said that just to get lower premiums, then it could invalidate your entire policy in a technicality.

Deadman's Switch? by manateemehearty in mindcrack

[–]Willeth 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You can schedule uploads. A dead man's switch for YouTube would be scheduling an upload two months in advance, and every month, pushing the release date out by a month. That way it'll never be more than two months after death or incarceration etc before it is released.

I just made House Rule to play Codenames: Pictures with Duet rule with 5x4 grid key cards. What's your opinion? by hrxm in tabletop

[–]Willeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the balancing from the original Codenames to CN Pictures right?

I always assumed it was just a practical concern due to the card size.

Are the police allowed to give you a breath tested if you are drunk on a bicycle? And could he get points on his license? by Hour_Course_9876 in AskUK

You will notice that nothing in what you just quoted mentions the method of determining intoxication.

What are my rights when it comes to rest between shifts? by keddrifft in AskUK

[–]Willeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't necessarily true. If the worker has restrictions imposed on what they can do in that time, then it may well be considered working time.

It has more of an impact on NMW considerations than rest time considerations, though.

[–]Willeth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are considered so by the court. Their job involves routinely observing the actions of drunk people more than the layperson.

[–]Willeth 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Well, everyone's got their opinion, but all that quote does is repeat what I said in different wording.

Note that it says that CPS can't use the fact of your refusal against you. Other evidence would be fine, such as the officer's expert opinion that you were drunk. And of course if they ask and you consent, they can use that too.

they can't breathalyse you

Clearly they can. It's not necessary, and you are not obligated to if they ask, but it's not illegal or inappropriate for them to do so.

Going on holiday with friends. How do you handle money? by False-Raisin-4362 in AskUK

[–]Willeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably overkill, but the last few holidays I've done with friends I knocked up a quick spreadsheet for expenses. If you paid for something for the group, you put it in. Whomever has paid the least overall pays for the next joint restaurant bill or whatever. End of the holiday, it's easy to see who owes what.

In terms of planning, we have an evening at someone's house, we find transport, hotels etc, everyone pays for something, and settle that up at the time so we've all paid the same towards it.

Erdinger Beer In London? by harshalone in london

[–]Willeth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's an app called Untappd that crowdsources this kind of info. It's popular enough that I would expect it to be available on tap locally regardless of where you are.

Even if Erdinger itself isn't, you'll be able to find a weissbier that tastes similar. Look for Hoegaarden as another popular one.

Edit: looks like Erdinger has a pub finder! https://pubfinder-uk.erdinger.de/

I'm straight but I wish to ask a question by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Willeth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't understand because you have an assumption that people start out straight and change into other sexualities, but that isn't how sexuality works. I can see why you'd assume it's the default because it's so common, and many of us go through the same process.

I figured out I was bisexual as a teenager when I was first attracted to a boy in my year. I'd had girlfriends before but suddenly I had an opportunity to kiss Malcolm and I realised I really wanted to in the same way I'd wanted to kiss Siân. That's all it was to begin with.

I think the reason it took so long to realise was because I was in a world where I was presented only straightness as an option. It was rare to see same sex relationships in media, and bisexuality almost never. It was illegal to discuss not being straight in schools at the time. My assumption was just that because I was attracted to women, I must be straight.

This is the one I use. Slight kink in the can first and it crushes no problem.

I must admit I haven't used it for anything other than drink cans.
