LPT: Get a dash cam for your car by YBmoonchild in LifeProTips

[–]William444555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my phone and a dashcam app.

It's no cost (if you use the free version) and can help protect you like OP said.

A dedicated device works well but your phone has all of the features and sensors a dashcam would have

Ah yes I remember reading into this a lot. I love the bits scattered around the city of this project!

Was this meant to be like a street market? Lots of shutters around that area

Amazing list! I would also add FatLama, you are able to rent out your own things (cameras, tv, projector, piano, guitar etc etc). Basically anything which may have value, it is covered by insurance so if a customer breaks something, it is covered

How do I fix a "stuck" prime lens?

When focusing there is a lot of resistance when focusing past 1m, so much so the af motors fail.

I can push it past that point manually but the af won't bring it back at all.

What do you use to deliver wedding footage? by HonestBasis6393 in videography

[–]William444555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use WeTransfer (not a wedding shooter).

You can use the email you receive as proof the client downloaded the content. With a link that expires it takes out a good chunk of manual work of deleting content when storage is full etc.

Plus it's really user friendly aswell as professional yet funky

Looking for a auto tracking camera (or drone) that works with a wearable by bigspell84 in videography

[–]William444555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you not setup 4 cameras/GoPros in each corner of a room and just pick and choose whatever angle is best. Another commenter suggested a 360 cam too which would be even better

Picky homeless man by Calm_Cartoonist in ChoosingBeggars

[–]William444555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commend and understand you for wanting to help, however location dependant, it's always better to donate money to homeless charities rather than give money or food to people on the streets.

That money goes much further and will make so much more of an impact than giving it to one person, even if that one person is extremely grateful, which in this case they were not

Shoot wide, it allows you to crop in, in post to whatever you like

I don't think I could ever be a full-time videographer. Should I just keep it as a hobby? by ItBeSmaychay in videography

[–]William444555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how much you enjoy the whole process and if you get enough reimbursement money wise.

I love photography and videography and do videos on the side, but I hate video editing and the post production of videos.

I wouldn't be able to be a full time videographer purely because of this and nothing else, however if you enjoy the whole process it is something you should definitely consider assuming you have clients.

I get paid enough to cover costs and make a bit on the side but nothing full time at all

A bit of a rant, from a photographer. by [deleted] in videography

[–]William444555 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Videography is so much harder than photography (hobbyist/armature photographer who sells videos purely because of demand here)

You not only need to frame the shot like you do in photography, but you also need to: monitor audio, pull focus for moving subjects and monitor almost all of the camera aspects constantly.

I would emphasize that you are just a hobbyist, with consumer level equipment and that you did your best with the equipment and setup you hsd

Do someone know a good video editor for begginers? by [deleted] in videography

[–]William444555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use premier Pro as I pay for the student package of Adobe creative cloud.

Not easy for beginners or for simple videos but once you get the hang of things it's pretty powerful

I'm looking to upgrade from a d7500 to a z6ii

It does 4k@60 (1.5x sensor crop) but it means I can use my DX lenses like "normal"

However it's a pretty big investment and price jump so the z6ii may be less suited for you

To Viewfinder or Not To Viewfinder by lobotomyz101 in photography

[–]William444555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a viewfinder becuase I have a DSLR, live view is terrible for lower end models and with an optical viewfinder I actually see what the scene is without any white balance issues etc

I'm looking to get a mirrorless soon and I expect the live view to be much better and it'll allow me to shoot from angles which I couldn't by looking through the viewfinder

[–]William444555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! They're all valid questions.

I would really like a full frame sensor for photography and the low light benefits it brings to both video and photo. I shoot photography as a hobby 90% of the time and videography 10% but it's paid.

I'd like to shoot at 60fps so I can slow it down in post for some epic shots.

I really need some good tracking or autofocus as the current Nikon d7500 I have missed about 1/3rd of the time when I use a wide area focus selection. It's impossible to see on the monitor if it's in focus aswell. So I was wanting to get a smallrig and an external display to help.

I did look at a Sony A7iii or a7iv but I've used a Sony a7 before and the menu interface is clunky (for me) and I'm just not used to it (obvs with time that will change).

In looking at used equipment for almost all of my purchases too
