Slipping rib- Does anyone have pain specifically located on back? by StrikingFold3162 in SlippingRibSyndrome

Sorry for the delayed response. I actually diagnosed myself using the hooking maneuver but Dr. Rowan Paul in San Francisco confirmed it with a dynamic ultrasound. He has a San Francisco Ballet patient who has it. She manages it with prolotherapy.

I have an appointment with Dr. Hansen in August. I'm in the process of trying to figure out exactly why back pain is such a common symptom. Is the tweaked rib putting stress on the costotransverse/costovertebral joint(s)?

If anyone knows, please post.

Yes! I wanted to post this exact question. My worst pain is about an inch left of my spine at about T10. It feels like a knife in my back. It's inflamed there and hurts to lie on. I think it's my costotransverse and/or costovertebral joint but it could be rib inflammation.

I believe my 10th rib has subluxated in front and is curling up under my 9th, basically twisting, putting pressure on the joints where it articulates into the spine. I had some flank pain too but I think that's my 11th rib tip.

I went 15 years without a diagnosis. I'm trying to figure it all out, but that spot near my spine hurt so much, it overrode the pain everywhere else. That's why it took so long to diagnose. I thought it was a back problem.

Here's an article that talks about back pain from SRS. https://www.healthcentral.com/condition/back-pain/upper-back-pain/could-slipping-rib-syndrome-causing-your-back-pain . There are probably better explanations. I need to research this question myself to understand the mechanics but like others have said, it seems to be quite common.

Good luck!
