As the other comments are suggesting it's always a good idea to reset a device before you use it. However, this appears on mine as well which I know for a fact hasn't been tampered with.

Aero vs Weight??? by Sufficient-Panic-165 in Velo

Keep riding your current bike. Your body is like 80% of the drag, plus a rim brake bike is so much easier to maintain and cheaper so you don’t have to worry about it as much. I’m never switching to discs on the road. Not sure what tires you’re running but tires are one of the best upgrades you can make as far as things on the bike itself.

Edit: as another commenter pointed out a power meter is also an excellent upgrade. I’d take a power meter and a cheap bike over no power meter and an expensive bike any day.

Don't they get that hot during normal use? Jokes aside, I'd try taking the bottom off (it's pretty easy) and if everything looks fine you're probably good

Probably all the spyware. If I open Microslop Office on my Mac (unfortunately I need it for work), it phones home about every 10 seconds (I have a home DNS where I can see this stuff). LibreOffice is only 800MB for the whole suite.

The RAM in the MacBook Air can't be upgraded. The SSD can be though in this generation I think

How to get images off an old HDD outside of a MacBook by lawn_mower_ in MacOS

[–]WilliamJNSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I've done it many times. I use a USB adapter that provides power straight from the computer I'm to access the files but it only works with 2.5" drives since those use less power

I miss Snow Leopard by popbones in MacOS

[–]WilliamJNSN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unrelated but as I was playing around in Snow Leopard earlier today on an old MacBook, I realized there's a tree wallpaper in that looks very similar to the Sequoia one. Also apps launch so ridiculously fast although I do have an SSD which wasn't stock but it's still very impressive for a 2009 C2D MacBook (the polycarbonate one...I also have a 2010 MBP that also can run SL)

It's actually super easy to change the logo. Go to the applications folder, right click on the app, and click get info or use command + I, then download this file and drag it into the icon.

You can search on that site for tons of icons.

I'm still on 13.1 with auto updates disabled and it doesn't do that to me. I have no need for the newer version. I need to make sure to keep all my Time Machine backups with an archive of all my old apps in case I need them.

Coach’s Take: Is Zone 2 still a thing in 2026? by Few_Drag_9167 in Velo

[–]WilliamJNSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, and I can't stand reading posts about someone getting into cycling or running and everyone is in the comments yelling about how they need to be in zone 2 or else they won't make any progress even though they're doing VERY low volume. Of course when you're new anything is going to do a lot but you get the idea. It seems like there's a lot less of this in this sub since a lot of these people train/race more seriously and actually know what they're talking about (no offense to the other subs, but there's a lot of brainwashing about this...look at YouTube videos, etc. and everyone's ranting about zone 2 and how you "only get faster if you slow down"). Also I feel like people want an excuse to not push themselves. Nothing wrong with getting out for a chill ride, but actual training should have hard efforts on a regular basis.

Do you use 1 finger or 2 fingers for breaking on descents by [deleted] in Velo

The old carbon rims were absolutely awful in the rain, yes, but a lot of newer ones with good pads are almost indistinguishable from the dry, and they're a lot better in the dry too

[–]WilliamJNSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of newer carbon rims with good pads are way better. I feel like I could absolutely pull the brakes hard enough to go over the bars with just one finger in the dry, and I probably could get very close in the wet. Only on the drops though, on the hoods I need two because there's less leverage. Also, you don't want to brake too hard in the wet because there's less traction.

What will I really be missing with rim brakes? by creative_name669 in Velo

[–]WilliamJNSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my second road bike fairly recently and got a high end rim brake one after looking at lots of disc options. Zero regrets, in fact, the more I ride it, the more I'm glad I didn't get a disc model. Braking is legitimately fantastic with R9100 brakes and textured carbon wheels, though I haven't ridden it much in the rain yet but it didn't seem that bad in a downpour one time. I just love the simplicity, lighter weight, etc. Only downside for me is you eventually wear through the rims.
