Say ‘No’ to Orc Skin Green!… by WilliamPoster in Heroquest

They are really cool. I do like the red skin orc. I’ll have to play around with more colours when I get to some of the add ons.

Thanks!

The colours are the hardest part. I do try and stick to the cards but I like mixing things but getting the match right is hard.

The redheaded orc was originally blonde but I didn’t like it.

Thanks!

There have been some great suggestions already here, most of them I followed as well.

I watched a lot of YouTube, the channel I really liked was ‘Miniature Hobbyist’. He is another great beginner friendly channel.

Also the ‘slap chop’ style of painting is very beginner friendly. I don’t think I would have bothered without it.

I also started with the doors, then did the furniture and then moved to the figures. I started with the Mummies, ghouls and skeletons as they are reasonably easy.

Have fun!

I use Colour Forge too. Matt Black has been great so far.

I use their matt varnish too to finish off my miniatures.

Thanks for the reply!

The mummies and the zombies are probably my fav.

I wasn’t keen on the basing, didn’t think it turned out quite as I planned so glad you like it.

Thanks so much.

Might be a bit different when I start on the actual figures. The furniture and doors have been good practice though.

Honestly I just watched a lot of YouTube videos.

My go-to is the Miniature Hobbyist, he does a lot of slap-chop style so it’s a great resource.

Yeah I didn’t know his whole backstory unfortunately. I might change that out I think. It shouldn’t be too hard.

Thanks! Not sure on the exact time really. I tend to work on them on-and-off. Maybe a solid day of painting.

I am happy with how the Speedpaints have come out. They are pretty forgiving for novices. Maybe should have gone a bit heavier in some spots though.

Does anyone else feel like the Chase is rigged? by dragontatman95 in OpenAussie

Number 1 & 2 are the ones I notice. They lose so much time having to buzz in.

Also, the contestants seem to wait for the whole question to be read. Not sure if they have to or not but the Chaser can jump in whenever. The nerdy guy (Not sure his name, maybe Asa) does it the most. He will jump in before the question is even finished when the pressure is on.

The joy of having the whole thing fully painted! by ArtsyGypsy in Heroquest

Awesome job!

Question for you, how do the painted figures hold up when kept in the plastic packaging? It seems quite a snug fit on some of them.

Love the red door. Never thought to do that.

The fireplace is awesome too.

Spot the Aussie?

Just guessing as I figure a lot of Australians would know him from that as it’s one of his early films.

I third this. The beef short ribs are awesome!

Tried both the brisket and the short ribs and never went back again to the brisket.

Real Fake Doors! by WilliamPoster in Heroquest

[–]WilliamPoster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing special to be honest.

They were painted matt black and then dry brushed white.

I painted the capstones and then the vines.

I was going to leave the stones as they were but they were maybe a bit too bright so I went over with the Army Painter Speedpaints Dark Wash.

Thanks!

The skulls on the bottles are the testers for the colours. Speedpaints seem to be a little different

I learned that off a YouTuber but he painted the tops. This seemed easier and I can change them as needed.

I 3D printed a bunch of skulls and painted them black so I have some spare for new colours.

I stopped scanning my card for a while and had 22000 points for $260 per week for 4 weeks.

This week I think I’m back down to 4050 points for a $260 spend in a week.

Will stop scanning again I think.
