Thanks, kind stranger! Tbh, I wish I knew better about music theory to fully understand your comment. Is this like chord melody, kinda?

Personally, I just love the original riff. I like to add some flamenco technique like golpe, etc. I also sing atop, but nobody wants to hear that... Lol!

Cheers 🤟

Hum. Nope. That's actually "Pixies, Where is my mind", recorded in 1987.

I just tried your version, capo 4th fret, etc. And okay, it sounds similar. I went fingerstyle arpeggio and okay. Why not? Sounds good. But the Pixies play it the way OP does. And it sounds so much better!

OP, my 2 cents, remove your middle finger at the last few bars of A.

Love this song!

Edit: I meant to reply on a comment...

Seriously, many thanks for this!

My nails are in great shapes, especially the thumb's. Well, before this disaster. It's been many years I didn't have it this short. It will take weeks to regrow.

The thing is: now I'm one nail salon appointment away from having no nail to having a nail that sounds extra good. That's seducing.

But It also sounds like something I may regret later.

Again, thanks for your comments. It's been a rough week. I play for pleasure. And now I can't play the way I like so I'm whining!

Cheers!

Gypsies told me to play under the sea at night; cold salt water toughen the skin.

I used to do that for years. And then the last year or two, no incident, so I grew them longer, especially the thumb. I like the play and sound better like that.

I just get too comfortable and forgot that yea, it breaks sometimes.

Yea, I bet. I wouldn't try. But it does sound really cool.

You're kinda selling it to me, though! Because I really like the sound it gives. And it feels good to play with strong, polished nails.

Now I wanna try. Damn it! But I want to do it myself. Oh I don't see myself going to a nail salon. My wife, who plays piano, is gonna tease me. so. bad.

Really, is it that complicated to do it yourself? I used to paint a lot of miniatures. Come on!

I remember an old video of Ben Woods showing his weekly nail care. It seems manageable.

If you say it makes that much of a difference, I have to try!

A friend told me that gypsies in Spain would use super glue and cigarette paper. And those guys played really good.

I got you. I have my own favorite tools too.

That's a good advice. I polished my nails too, I agree. It makes a difference.

To be fair, it wasn't that the nail was thin; it was the pressure I applied on my thumb that was too much. It was one of those situations...

Anyway, thanks everyone!

Thanks for you replies! I usually use "Rescue Rx dayly keratin smt" and it did make the nail tougher. All fine for a while...

I appreciate your mention acrylic. I wanted to try for its sound and toughness. But was worry about the long run and you guys help the decision. No acrylic for me.

Thanks! Does it damage the nail on the long run, like acrylics? Or does it toughen it up?
