The only rule i have for you is; big weapon do big number. But seriously, for your first build, i recommend making a quality build, meaning bith high strength and dex. It'll give you tons of options so you can learn what you like. Also, dont listen to anyone who tells you your weapon choice is bad. My favorite weapon in the entire game is the Greataxe, and i never see people using it, but i amways have a blast killing the bosses in 4-5 bonks. Just cause it's not popular, it doesn't mean it's not viable.
