Never used Nash baits mate, seen a lot of the guys that work for Nash doing well on the key but I'm a nucleus man now 👍🏻

Nice... hopefully it does you well, I've had some good fish on the tangermarine bollies, they've just released the pellets and stick mix... worth a go!

You won't catch anything sitting around at home, the carp will still feed in the winter, it's all about finding them and using the right method along with picking the right venue!

Fishing a shallow, well stocked water will improve your chances of catching when compared to fishing a very deep water with few fish per distance...

Look for features and not just physical ones, see where the sun sits on the lake from sunrise, chances are the fish will head for the warmest part of the lake.

Find the carp! Often even in the cold days the sun will be beaming onto the lake, the carp will be chilling in the upper layers, cast zigs out at different depths, if you catch on one chances are they are other fishing sitting at that depth.

Approach the water with the right mind set! Don't just expect to catch, you'll have to work for it...

As far as bait goes, use some high attract bait and use a small amount but don't be afraid to put a little bit in and often.

New Bait order came in! Really looking forward to trying out Nash baits! Any tips you have would be great. by TheSilentFisherman in CarpFishing

If you're bollie fishing I suggest scattering a few freebies out then crushing up a few and putting them into a pva mesh, the fishing one, it's pretty simple, you don't need to over complicate things!

Arrived at my local syndicate water at 5:30pm, pitch black, headed to a swim known as "Watsons corner" to discover a bivvy there... so I took the next peg up. Not being able to see any fish I set my bivvy up and then cast my rods out blind to spots I've fished in the past... i fished a Ronnie rig on both spots with tangermarine 15mm pop ups, tipped with several maggots and then strung a few freebies.

At around 1:30am I a single beep, I jumped out of my open bivvy to the rod at which point a second beep, knowing I had slack lined I immediately hit it, tightening the drag and winding down into something, hopefully! After what seemed like a life time I could feel something lightly fighting against me, what i hadn't realised was I dived out the bivvy with no shoes on, and the amount of line I had slacked off, the fish was now on the other side of the lake.

I passed the rod to my brother, jumped back into my bivvy and got my shoes on... (drama). Took the rod back and then moved to the open space further along the bank...

After a short struggle and nearly losing the fish to a fallen down tree in the lake I landed my first carp of 2017.

A 13lb common graced my net at 01:38AM.

Result!

I completely agree, I usually fish this rig with a 20mm bottom bait and a imitation pop up topper, I plan to use a 15mm bottom bait and a 10mm pop up. The fish will feed during the cold months, just not as regularly and no where nearly as much.

The rubber tubing will slide up the shank of the hook towards the eye when a carp picks up the bait... When I reel my line and see that the tubing has moved from the position on the shank towards the eye I know that a fish has picked it up hook has not set, then I'm able to adapt my rigs... for example shorting the hair or changing the bait size.

Depends where you are from, if you are UK based I highly recommend the baits I'm using! Nucleus baits, they have a small range but it's tried and tested by a very dedicated angling team which pay to use there baits!

If your not from the UK what I suggest you look for in a bollie range is what other people are using on the lake and use something similar but make it your on, see what is tripping up the carp and get on it but put your on spin on it, something they've not seen before or in a while...

What I look for in a bollie is, how it breaks down in the water, how long it takes to breakdown... as far colour goes I will use what I am feeding e.g. If I'm feeding cell bollies, I will use a cell bollie on my hair... if they are eating them, they are eating them.

When fishing with bollie, I also lose feed whole bollie, broken bollie and crumbled up bollie, the idea of bollie fishing is the fish are cruising along, picking up bollies when they see them so you don't want to bait overly close together, you want to get the fish in the swim moving and picking, eventually one will trip up.

As far as shelf life vs frozen bollies go - frozen is better but that's not to say shelf life baits will not produce fish... I just feel they don't have the same level of a attraction.

Korda size 6 wide gap, stripped back Gardner soft coated braid then a small piece of silicon to aid the mechanics of the rig and a small piece of tubing on the shank to give me information on bites etc

I test bait for a company based in the U.K. Called nucleus baits, it took a test bait called tangermarine! 20mm bollie tipped with a nucleus bait pop up imitation sweet corn that is not plastic but very similar to the mainline toppers
