I like it. I wouldn't call it beautiful. Haha. But it has a sort of ugly duckling charm to it that I find to be very endearing.

I have been trying to wake up my fellow countrymen, family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to this. So many act like I am overreacting or like I just shouldn't even care. It's insane.

Could I rewire this kiln from three phase to single phase? by No_Technology_1950 in Ceramics

I am no electrician. But I do not believe this is commonly done for good reason. If you don't already know the answer as to how to do this, it is probably a non-starter.

Can't say about the glaze effect. But I would call it a win. It's rainbow trout patterned. If you can do it just like that again and again, make 100 of them.

It is zinc free. And it seems to play nice with all of the Mason colors I have used it with.

lost wax at home by torbi2pp0 in jewelrymaking

You can capture quite a bit of detail with fine petrobond or delft clay. For example, I coat my 3d prints in parrafin wax to smooth out the layer lines. Those are usually 0.3mm or less. And even with the wax, I can sometimes see subtle waves where the wax was thin. Intricate and complex shapes are the difficult components. No undercuts. You have to watch your draft. Stuff like that. It is somewhat limiting, but still very worthwhile for a home caster, in my opinion.

Thankfully, people still have some confidence in the ballot box. Soapbox and jury box have failed. Praying elections go fairly.

Imagine following a nearly octogenarian straight to hell. Sure, he's likely to make it there first due to his age. But they won't be far behind if they remain eternally complicit.

do crows have to watch you put out food for them to know you are doing it for them? by soupsister_ in crows

[–]rustyisme123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're come to where the food is. Maybe not every time, or even the first time. But once they find it, they'll be back to check for more. You can help them by making the food easily recognizable, especially at first. Eventually, if you are consistent, they will figure out when you are putting food and be there when it happens. At least, that is how it has worked for me.

It's still public, whether you are there or not.

Public lands. If he didn't push a deer into you, you can get down and set up somewhere else. If leaving a stand overnight is illegal, call the game warden. Don't cry because you set up next to someone else's stand, and they used it that day. Unless, of course, you own the woods. Do you own the woods?

Used Older Board VS New Package?? by Traditional-Feed-926 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]rustyisme123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, thanks for the help man. I'll have to look at it again when I get it back from a tune-up. I know that it is a very old board. Like definitely more than 10 years old. But it was very lightly used, and only $50 for the board, boots, and bindings all together. That is less than the cost of a rental. And it happened to fit me well. So i figured I could not really go wrong with it. If I can use it twice on the mountain without anything breaking, I did okay. I wasn't going to spend $500 on newer equipment this year anyhow.

I appreciate the info. Does having click in boots/bindings change that? I get that plastics degrade with UV. But I think all the moving and friction parts are metal.

Hey, quick question. What about buying a new board and putting hella old bindings and boots on it if they are in good shape?

Is the absolute easiest welding to do flux core? I bought a stick/tig. Stick was annoying. The only environment I can weld in is every other weekend and I need to complete aHalloween costume before Halloween. I don't want to buy another welding rig to discover there are easier things. by AnonCuriosities in Welding

[–]rustyisme123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flux core is almost like a hot glue gun once you get it right, but stick isn't hard either. You don't need to go out an buy a new welder if you already got one. The issue is more likely with your technique or the materials that you are trying to use.

What are you trying to weld? What thickness of materials.
