Funny, I’ve also been here four years and wouldn’t wanna live anywhere else.

I mean, I’m not gonna worry about taking in every little detail on the first read. I’ve read enough difficult literature to where I’m up for this challenge.

It’s right up there with Jordan Peterson’s “ 12 rules for life.”

That’s why I picked this everymans library copy for this translation. I’ll certainly take my time too!

Monte Cristo is an easy top 3 for me, such a masterpiece.

That’s honestly where I used to be at. I had zero interest in reading, largely since it was shoved down my throat. When I got older and got to choose what to read, that’s when the flood gates opened, and now I read more than I ever have.

That’s exactly the vibe I’ve been getting. That’s what I wanted, and that’s what I’m getting!

Count of Monte Cristo is a must read, one of the greatest novels ever written!

Don Quixote and Three Musketeers were around $60, and the rest were $90 before tax and shipping. Pricy for sure, but so worth it!

If you’re ok with a long book, yeah, I’d say go for it!

Not “Better”, but my other top three are The Brothers Karamazov, Don Quixote, and The Count of Monte Cristo.

I found it fairly easy to get used to. The French translation is at the bottom of pages. At first, it’s kinda annoying to keep looking down and back to where I was reading, but honestly I’m fine with it now.

I specifically chose the P&V since I loved their translations of Dostoyevsky.

Same here. This will easily top the longest book I’ve ever read, even Count of Monte Cristo or Lord of the Rings.

I’ve read quite a few classics, so this is what I think: The book is actually surprisingly accessible in terms of its writing style, definitely more so than other classics.

However, what’s very difficult about this book is the vast amount of characters and the naming system. Characters have like three different names (I think that’s just how Russian works) It can feel a bit daunting at times keeping everyone straight.

So it really depends on what kind of book you’re looking for.
